Hybrid Honda's from Thailand :)
ok, I think its time to display to you people some more *real hybrid* stuff from thailand
(by the way, i've seen that S2000 powered BMW with my own eyes. It sounds like a Honda, and it still has that distinctive VTEC sound. Yes, its a JDM motor (why the hell would we get USDM motors here when we're practically next to Japan? ))
about the BMW with a 2JZ-GTE... I do have a picture, will scan it later. Or would you people rather see a Mercedes-Benz C220 with a 2JZ-GTE 6-speed?
For you Honda people though.. here are some Thailand reverse-hybrids..
EK Civic sedan with Toyota MR2 turbo engine (3S-GTE) - yes its a street car..
EG Civic sedan with a Nissan Pulsar GTiR engine (SR20-DET 4WD version) - this thing is also on the street..
Prelude with Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 3 engine (4G63T) - another street car..
if you people wanna see more.. maybe some Thai turbocharged Honda's.. lemme know We have Honda City's here too (bet you people don't even know what that is, huh? )

So are these guys rewiring for stock computers or are they running stand alone engine managament systems? What is the engine management system of choice over there?

most rewire the cars to use that engine's factory ecu.. and then they somehow manage to get the Honda gauge clusters to work with the engine (rewiring I guess). Some serious people use MoTeC, Haltech, Microtech, and Autronic.. Dastek's Unichip is becoming a popular choice here now too..

I can see the mr2 plant in a civic, but why in the Hell would you put a fukn Mitsubishi crap factory in a Prelude? Now it leaks oil and breaks twice as much.
Not ot mention its heavier! UGH

I think its tight. And I would also think that a properly built 3S-GTE would be able to handle more boost than (for example) a properly built b18c. For street use anyway.

yea i been to thailand a few years ago...stayed in bangkok for a month...street racing a lil more crazier than here...common now they have skyline with 800+hp and trucks with supra motors runnin alcohol shots...of course the honda gonna have to go full blown or else they get smoked by every other car.honda arent even as popular as it is in US cuz they are in the slower end of cars over there...i kno they love truck racing there.the drivers are psycho, i thought la got crazy drivers includin myself but nuttin can compared to asian populated countries...

Re: Hybrid Honda's from Thailand :) (twinkie)
Unfortunately, the only hatchbacks that we get here are from the EG and EF civics. Once the EK civic was released here, there was also another line-up from Honda called the City that was released at the same time. So that people would buy the Honda City, they decided not to sell hatchback versions of the Civic. *GRR!* and so that is why over here, you will see fully done up sedans, or Coupes (mainly sedans, coz the coupes are expensive). ALL honda Civics here come with either 1.6l SOHC VTEC or 1.6L non-vtec engines (newer models come with VTEC LEV) so anything with a B-series engine under the hood has been swapped..
as far as I know.. there are only about 3 EK hatchbacks in Thailand on the road.. two of them are JDM SiRs (B16A) and one '96 CTR (B16B). Anyone got a HB that I can swap with them?

I still don't understand how they can pull it off over there, while we being in the U.S. can't even think about it here!
BTW, can anyone read that article about the AWD Prelude?!
*Makes me proud to be from SE Asia*

Re: Hybrid Honda's from Thailand :) (Prelude_RCR)
The thing is that we don't have all those CARB and SMOG check things that you people have over in the US. You can even drive a car with a straight pipe and no exhaust, and no one says a thing. As long as the engine is registered, it doesn't matter what car body it is in. They don't even check if the car is road worthy or not.. that's why you get a lot of people driving 2JZ-GTE powered pick-up trucks dying because they can't stop their trucks (there's practically no weight in the rear of a truck remember). If you can dream it, you can do it legally in Thailand
