Default hybrid cable tranny

Let me know if this combo would work together. TIA.
I'm going to use a cable 90-91 tranny and swap the 1-4th gears of a JDM J1 into the LS tranny. I'd need to use the differential from the LS tranny because the one in the J1 is busted. I'd also like to replace the synchros and I've read that you can use d-series synchros for b-series trannies '91 and older. I'm just not sure which years or model of civics that I can use the synchros from.

I'm pretty sure the J1 gears will fit in the LS tranny and I'm also pretty sure the d-series synchros will work. What I'm really not sure of is whether I can use the LS differential with the J1 gears. And since I know not a lot about trannies, how does the differential affect the gearing in the tranny or does it affect it at all?
Let me know what you think. TIA.

well.........since this idea was my baby..........

JDM and 90-91 USDM small spline cable trannys use the same size synchros for 3-4-5 and the 88-00 D series 3-4..........

Bad news, you can't buy just the synchros from the dealer. I tried using the aftermarket ones from Aceomatic-Recon. It seems the changed the design a little and I was not comfortable that they would work correctly.

It seems that after someone did a major groupbuy on the D series synchros (ME!) the design was changed a little. I haven't tried fitting the new synchros in a D tranny yet.

PS. I only wiped out 4 warehouse in the USA. Thanks to Brian G at HASport and DAvid Wallens at GRM.
