Default Hybrid B18B with b16a internals

Well i am putting a motor into my 1990 Integra LS(wired for OBD1) and i found a bare b18 block and head for a good price. On the other hand locally i have a hookup on just a complete b16a block.

Could i make this work somehow? Can i use a b16a crank on the b18b block and most the other parts?

Because of the rod length of the B18 and the stroke of the B16, you would have really ugly compression, like 5:1. The B16B uses the B18 block, but with longer rods (hence the 9k rev limit). Plus I believe the bearing sizes are different, so overall I think the answer is no. Sorry.

you can use the b16 pistons but not the rods.

and if you were to swap out he b18 crank for the b16 crank you'd be driving a b16. The extra .2L of displacment come from the crank and rods.

wrong.
the .2 liter of displacement comes from the LS crank alone. Rods don't affect liter size, only crank size & piston radius widths do.

BlazeONE,
if you wanna put B16 internals in a LS block, you'll need to have custom rods made for sure or B16B rods *might* work. You'll also have to get the LS block's crank journals machined to allow B16A crank fitment and possibly some custom crank bearings.

This setup is definitely with some $$$ dumped into it. Worth it? no.
I'd personally spend $$ on a LS/VTEC setup than doing this B16 stroker setup.

I second that.
