Default How Hi is too Hi.

I'm planing on going CR/Vtec. I'm either goign with a B20B or B20Z. I'm going to put a b18c head on it and my question is how high can i rev. I'm planing on going with the Toda Spec B's so i want to rev as high as posible to extract all the power out of these cams until 9300. I dont know if i can really rev this high with this conversion so i wanted to ask. I want this motor to be reliable too so it must last.

It depends on so many things. If you're not going to disassemble the B20 before doing the hybrid swap I wouldnt reccommend reving above even 7k. You don't know the condition, clearances of the bearings. If you wanted to do it right, you would replace your rods/pistons/ bearings, make modifications to the oil flow and make sure you piston to wall clearances are on the tight end of the scale. Look into Endyn for components, they're cheap and they work better than the more expensive crap. Also if you want to rev higher, looser tolerances are reccommended on the oil clearances. If you short cut rebuilding your motor and STILL wana rev to 9500RPM, i hope you have a new motor on a stand prepped for install. The CRV/Vtec hybrid dosen't and isn't really intended to rev to insane rpm unless you use the 1.7L crank. It still can rev high but the motor is torquey by nature, i would get something that produces power earlier, like CTR/ITR cams, and save yourself some money. Put that money into rebuilding the motor, atleast higher comp. pistons. If you go with the B's and even the B20Z you STILL won't realize full potential because your CR is low, esp with the B20B. Hope some of this helped.

Unless you replace the rod bolts, you can not raise the rev limit above the B20/LS limit of 6800 safely.

This little things are weak:
