yeah but good luck getting the right VIN. Sometimes you can find it stamped into the block, but dont always count on that. My motor didnt. As far as VIN plates go, how can you be sure the plate that you have was the one that came from the factory along with the motor. Its tough, but if you cant find it, dont worry about someone else finding it, meaning you wont get in trouble.

Actually Carfax DOES NOT tell you if its a stolen car/ VIN. The only way to find out is to go to your local police/ state patrol, ask them if the VIN number is stolen. I posted about whether carfax can see if a VIN is from a stolen vehicle, and everyone who posted stated that carfax doesnt tell you if its stolen. hope that helps.

daymn..thats the last thing you want to get yourself into is involved with stolen motors and especially bring it upon the police. i've spoken to local "OCATT" in OC and they can determine if it's stolen or not, but w/ lots of harrassments....

well wouldnt it be better to know if its stolen now then when you go to smog it or something? just tell them your thinking of purchasing the motor from someone on ebay.

im suprised you havent heard of them and you live in OC too. Their like the FBI's but for car's. they do investigation on car, motors, what ever they could find about parts that could be stolen. check out their website at http://www.ocatt.org.
