how can u tell if the engine is stolen....???
or if u buy a solen motor?...is there engine codes that specifies from what car it come out from , other than the b16,b18, etc engine codes...well basically some1 i kno wonderin if its save to buy a stolen motor....scared he might get pulled over then cop make him pop the hood and some numbers or code matches the car that got robbed off....i duno....any help?

It is NOT safe to buy a stolen motor. If you take off any vin numbers or serial numbers the cops will assume it is stolen.

not a good idea expecialy not to mention if your friend but get a bunk motor and be out a crap load of money.Better to just do it the right way and have someone to hold accountable if say for instance the motor wont start.....But thats just my opinion

Look for a serial number or VIN. There should be the VIN on the tranny and/or the back of the block I believe.
Make sure it is not a stolen motor -> stolen motors are not good to play with especially since theives who make money off of other people's **** is just ghey.

Possession of stolen property IS A CRIME. (does not matter if you stole it or not....if you have it, your liable)
if your caught with a stolen motor, your vehicle gets impounded, you get fined and cops drags your *** to the nearest police station.

OK, here's a legitimate question... what're the chances of someone with a JDM motor swap getting tagged for having a stolen motor? I've got a 1st-gen JDM B16 from a legitimate supplier (JHP), and I'll be really pissed off if some power-tripping officer books me for possession of stolen goods.
How to prevent this, or foil accusations? I already carry a copy of my receipt for the motor around...

Unless he edited his post I didn't get the impression he was trying to find out how to have a stolen motor without being caught. I think it is good to know how to tell if you have a stolen motor so if you buy one you won't unknowingly buy a stolen motor.
So, how do you tell if a motor is stolen? Just asking to prevent anyone from buying a stolen one without knowing.

So how would a cop know if your motor was stolen or a jdm motor? I mean the vin number on the motor(jdm motors have vins right?) won't match the one for your chassis, so how do you prove your motor is legit? Would you just have to show your receipt for the motor?

sux to those who get their ***** stolen, my shitty english? get outta here, comparin buyin stolen engine to weed...hhmm...i posted up this jus so i kno if an engine is stolen or not, cus this guy said he has 2gsr and one ls for dirty cheap so i wanted to check it out , thas why i came in here...man then again, flamers and morons all over the place....i got bunch of friends that have their car stolen and stripped, and....the feelin must sux but all of em had their insurance company covered it, and theyd buy another project car or even wrx for their next project car.....they don even care ne more....watevas...flame on.....

I have a GSR swap and have never been worried about the cops wanting to pop the hood so if your friend feels that way then I would be lead to think it is a stolen motor.I think it suck for your friends that had there crap stolen but turnin around and buying stolen good only encourages them to keep stealin.
