how 2 disconnect shift linkage 99 ls

Im workin on pullin my motor. I've got one linkage rod out that was held by a bolt, but the other one has a riveted pin type thing in it. Whats the best way to disconnect this? I could disconnect it under the shifter box but I would rather at the tranny.

It sounds like you've already removed the spring pin clip. Now you just need a 8mm pin punch and tap the spring pin (aka bitch pin) out from the bottom using the pin punch and a hammer.

You can also use a 5/16th" pin punch, or I've read that the long 8mm bolt that bolts the AC compressor to the AC bracket works too. If you cant find a pin punch use that bolt from your AC system.
