honda civic/ h22 won't stay running
Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a 95 civic. It has a h22 vtech w/ 5 speed. The previous owner did the wiring for it. It runs good and sounds great but will only run for a few minutes, after it dies it will not start again for about 10 min. I have 2 ecu's for it. with the first ecu it idles high and goes up and down. With the second ecu I have to stay on the gas for it to idle but it doesn't go up and down. very weird. And both ecu's aren't showing any trouble codes. Need help please!

Re: honda civic/ h22 won't stay running
so i did some research. I have a 95 Civic EX. The motor is a H22A4. And the ecu I have is an HA Motorsports chipped p28. I have an obd1 map sensor and obd1 distributor. So the obd2 motor is wired up obd1, correct? The wiring harness I have now is in pretty rough shape. The previous owner didn't do a very good job wiring it. When the car is sitting with the key off, it slowly drains the battery. the battery light, check engine light, and srs light are all on with the car running.

Re: honda civic/ h22 won't stay running
battery light is on due to a failing alternator which explains the draining battery because it forces the car to run off the battery instead of the alternator as its the alternators job to run all electrical when car is started. the check engine light needs to be scanned and fixed and the srs light is on because something is wrong with your airbag system as that's the job of it.
replace alternator
figure out cel and fix it
go from there and see if it has any changes
