Hmm confusion on tranny and swap?
Can someone correct me if I am wrong. Isnt the Y80 tranny code for a gsr tranny?? On the flywheel casing of my freinds new 95 LS swap its says y80 yet still says B18b1 on the block? Can someone correct me here or shed some light on this for me! Thanks

Re: Hmm confusion on tranny and swap? (rainforest)
hmm could you explain alittle more by what you mean when the s80 goes by chassis code. I am abotu to crack up open the flywheel casing to do some investigation. 94-95 integras were kinda flukey years, i bet there is something up here hehe. Hope its a LS tranny though cause he just order a ACT clutch kit for a his swap. Anyone have any other ideas

He wasn't necessarily jacked. I have seen VTEC and non-VTEC Integra's with Y80's and S80's switched around. It blew us away until we looked into the Helm's for the specs. I don't remember which has the longer gears. But I wouldn't say he was frauded or anything.

The problem is, all trannys with Y80's are both GSR and NON-GSR. Y80 is the part number for 94-95 Integra vtec & non-vtec trans parts. The only way to tell if it's a GSR tranny is:
#1 way would be to take the casing off and count the teeth on the ring .
There should be 66 teeth on the ring since it's a 4.40 final drive. The LS final drive is 4.266 = 64 teeth on ring.
If you don't wanna do it that way, then do it the pain in the ***/unefficient way. Slap the tranny on your car and test each gear at 4000rpm and see how fast your going.

Re: Hmm confusion on tranny and swap? (Katman)
Just finished cracking up the case and inspecting the teeth comparing what the helms manual said. Its a LS tranny hehe. I am guessing 94-95 being obd1, say y80 for the tranny casing. After the valve covers are different as well. Thanks everyone.
