your best bet would to ask a buddy with a civic and just look at it. It's not that hard. I'd suggest you just put the engine in the car, and most of these connections will become fairly obvious.

what you labeled as "ground 1" goes to the fuse box on the pass side.
" " " " " "ground 2" goes to the 12v+constant for the starter.
" " " " " "ground 3" could be a ground if it's conected to the frame. However it does look like the wire that goes to the fuse box as well.
" " " " " "ground 4" goes to the thermostat housing.
" " " " " "sensor 1" looks to be the knock sensor or vtec solenoid since its only a one pin plug.
" " " " " "sensor 2" goes underneath that water pipe for the upper hose, its for the tem guage.
" " " " " "sensors 3 4 5 I dont really know. sorry

ground 1 and 3 are not grounds. but power cables, they go to the fuesbox.
ground 4 is a real ground and goes on the thermestat hosing.
#4 and #5 go to the pot valve and intake temp sensor.
#1 and #3 look like vtec,
and #2 is the coolent sensor in the head. which looks like you may be missing in the picture.

lets say i put the motor in the car and the sensors and grounds are in the wrong places
if i try and turn the car on will it cause any problems liek short circuiting or will it even start at all?

you should be ok................if its not grounded good, it wont start.if you have something hooked up wrong it will throw a check engine light, then you can trouble shoot you sensor problem.
ground 1 fuse box (under hood)
ground 2 goes under your on your starter where the 12 mm nut is
ground 3 fuse box (under hood)
ground 4 goes on your thermostat housing
sensor 1 vtec signal (1 wire?) i really cant see, and it wont be used for your ls
sensor 2 coolant temp for your gauge (goes on your head)
sensor 3 coolant temp for your ecu (goes on your head where you have the green plug. the green one is your vtec pressure which is not used for you ls)
sensor 4 air intake temp sensor (goes to a white sensor on intake mani)
sensor 5 evap purge (you dont have to hook it up)
try that

is it a buzzing or something catching on fire????????? haha no joking but if you dont have lights or anything seems like your not getting any power to any thing check your battery and check all your grounds. frame rail to tranny the one on your thermostat housing (ground 4) and the one that goes to your radiator support to the valve cover

Re: Help me with my swap please, PICTURES INSIDE (bboylito)
ok the car starts now but i hear A LOT OF TICKING AND THERE IS A LOT OF SMOKING, i think its the cams or maybe even a valve problem
the motor looked brand new when i took the valve cover off but when i took the dipstick off while the car was running lots of smoke was coming out of the tube, and i've been told that thats a sign of a crappy motor
i'm really stressing this because i need my car running and can't afford another motor, so do any of you think of a solution or is this common for motors that have been sitting for like 2 months????

try doing a compression check on it. i put a motor in my girl friends car that had 80k on it and it smoked real bad but the longer i drove the better it got . the motor came out of a wrecked car that was flipped up side down . but it ended up being ok

Re: Help me with my swap please, PICTURES INSIDE (saleensolution)
my friend also bought a motor that was sitting for a while and it ran like crap, he kept changing the oil and just driving it and it got better over time
i dunno though i'm very pessimistic when it comes to cars i always assume the worst
i dropped the oil pan and there werent any large chunks of metal, but there was a lot of grinded metal almost like powder or glitter
inside of the oil pick up where the screen is there are some tiny bronze or copper looking metal flakes
any suggestions??????/
