If the speedo is working and the car does not want to move when you press the gas with the car in gear you might have a problem with your differential.

Please keep in mind that it is difficult to diagnose problems via the internet. This may not be what is happening in your case. But, from past experience the symptoms you described indicate something wrong with your diff.

Good luck.

sounds like the axles r not in the tranny housing all the way. speedo climbs indicating that the diff is movin but the car isnt. axles axles axles.

DAMMIT........it was the axle.....pulled it and it was sitting out about 1.5 inch. About 2mm was taken off the inboard part. Diff looks fine( found some metal shaving.......but wiped them out......but it looks fine) just the splines on the axle are gone about the ring. Waiting for axle right now.....and gonna give the tranny a fluuid change.
