Time to Swap?
Hey everyone,
Long-time forums user, first-time poster.
I need help. I recently bought a pristine 92 Civic DX Hatch on Craigslist.$1800 for the (nearly perfect) rolling shell, and a disassembled b16a + tranny. I just started cleaning all the engine parts when I saw that one of the piston's ringlands were busted (not sure if it broke during moving, or if previously broken. This put me off, because I'm not sure I want to dish any more money at this motor, because I've only read mediocre things about it. I DO however, have a b18 engine in my working coupe (which has body damage from someone hitting me during a rough winter storm). I am half-tempted just to swap this into the hatch, since it is a bigger engine, and I really enjoy the torque.
Here's my delema. I've never swapped an engine. I have lots and LOTS of hours spent watching engine swaps, and have done nearly everything else to a car, besides this. I have about a week and a half before I work again (I'm a kitchen painter, so I usually work on and off in about two week increments). Can I get this done in this time? I really can't afford to not have a car once work starts up. However, I do have family cars I can take in the meantime. Any advice?
