Default help with '00 si swap into a '96 ex civic...wiring issues here. help please.

ok the motor is in and all sensors on the motor are plugged up. everything is connected. we even ran the motor. i am not sure what i have to do in this obd2v1-obd2v2 conversion. off the si harness, there are only two plugs that go to the ecu. on the ex, there were three plugs that went from the harness into the ecu. where did the plug go that i am missing at the ecu? obviously that doesn't run off the motor because all that stuff is already taken care of and plugged at the ecu. is this an extra harness that i am missing? i need all the help i can get. thanks a lot.

HEre is the problem. If you are using the 99si harness, you cant use it.

The 99up civics, except for the HX, only have two ecu plugs on the engine harness. the third ecu plug comes from the cabin harness.

So, use the harness that was on your 96 ex. You are going to have to repin the ecu plugs, and extend or shorten some sensor plugs, but in the end, you dont have any interior wiring issues like you do now.

I am not sure how you ran the motor since the fuel pump signal is in the plug A that you are missing.

Oh, and BTW. Those 96-98EX engine harness' are GOLD.

ok i sort of came to the conclusion to use the ex harness. but i am not going to be able to use the '00 si ecu am i? one plug wouldn't plug in...i believe it was the plug between the two that plugged in. is this where i have to use a 96-98 type r or del sol ecu? the motor did run smooth. we just idled it for a couple seconds. when we turned the igniton to 'on' the pump primed, BUT it kept on whining and didn't stop and i guess this is where we had another problem which you are questioning. well, thank you.

you can use the 00 SI ecu, but you will need to put the 3 00' ECU plugs onto your EX harness.

Or buy a 96-98 to 99-00 ECU harness adapter.

Dood on here is selling them for $170.

That way you can keep the new ecu and not have to rewire the entire car. You will still need to extend a few wires on the motor. Nothing big though.
