Has anyone used a floor jack to lift the motor???
I need to replace my driver side upper motor mount... I have no cherry picker.. if I used my floor jack and placed a towel between the cradle and the oil pan to lift up the engine just slightly to replace the mount would that be safe? Just wondering if anyone has tried this...

id use a block of wood to evenly distribute the weight across the oilpan, a towel isnt gonna do ****.
but ive done this many times, works fine for short-term stuff.

block of wood is the way to go, its the best way to hold the motor while you drop the tranny to replace a clutch, along with other things

not just a block. make an actual wood plate that goes over the cleat. it will be more stable and safe.
Well yeah.. I'm gonna use a wood block that fits the craddle of the jack and put that between the oil pan and the cradle.. I mean what's the difference between a wood block and a wood "plate"?

Do it all the time. Use a board and or a towel or something soft to create a little more surface area that wont damage the oil pan.
