H2B and hood clearance in EG with QSD kit
I'm starting to get parts for doing an H2B swap down the road. There's plenty of info on the motor and the adapter plate. I'm curious about hood clearance.
I read something about needing to bump the back of the hood about 1 1/2 inches. I don't like that idea. I read cutting the webbing gives about 1 inch and need to prop the hood about 1/2 inch then.
Could someone take a couple measurements for me? Just length and width of an H series valve cover and how far it is from the firewall and the top of the driver's side fender. I'm curious if cutting the hood and tweaking it could work to give the clearance needed.

Here is my EG back in 07 or so. you can see where I cut. Map sensor is on the manifold. I'm using 1" spacers and the hood still rubs a bit with the valve cover. There are 3 ways of fixing this. 1) custom hood. 2)custom valve cover. 3) bring the swap down about 1.5". Good luck.

Safe to say that custom valve cover will not close the hood all the way. I put on mines and well now it hits the front cam gear. So the only solutions are a custom hood or drop the motor down.

I know the QSD kit sits the motor higher, and I will use the QSD kit for that reason, and that it's cheaper. I would prefer this since I'd rather deal with top clearance than ground clearance. Ground clearance has been figured out, there's aftermarket oil pans or I can cut and reweld one.
I was thinking about cutting the valve cover. Thanks for informing me of that.
The reason I asked about the measurements is I was thinking about cutting the hood alone the two ridges that sort of make a V on the hood. Then I'd lift the back end of the hood up and weld a strip of metal in to fill it in. I just don't know if that would do the job, if that area is wide enough to clear the valve cover. This is the nice thing about metal, with some heat and a big enough hammer, it'll do what you want.

Would be nice if someone made a hood for us 5th gen civic owners. I'm sure theres enough of us to deem the need for one. And i'm damn sure i'm not the only one that wants their hood to shut completely

just get a nice ol grinder, cut a big ol hole in the middle of the hood and it would close
