H2b eg or boosted gsr?
Hello all,
I have been out of the game of any type of racing for several years now due to buying a house and establishing my career to where im comfortable. I am not new to hondas or cars in general. I would like your opinion and thoughts. I will be picking up a stock unmodified vx eg here after so long from a family member. I am wanting a relatively simple, not too expensive, clean, and fun car. This will be mainly a weekend car or just when I feel like going to the track (1/4) or to do spirited driving. Definitely miss my old eg and other hondas I have had in the past. With this being said, what would you prefer. This is basically what I am considering....
H22a longblock with gsr transmission (h2b) with intake, header, exhaust and tune on s300. Eventually 70 wet shot single fogger.
or
Stock Gsr swapped with basic turbo kit. Something like a ac ramhorn and t3/t4 turbo. Something to produce a reliable conservative 300-350whp tuned conservatively on s300.
Both setups would of course have the basic supporting mods as well. I know both setups are different but I know I can do both for about the same price.
Other supporting mods so you can better have an idea of what I am going after is, progress coilovers with 350F/250R setup, integra rear disc conversion, stainless brake lines, ate super blue fluid, axxis or hawk pads, gsr rear sway bar, 205/50/15 tires on some sort of 15x7 wheel or similar (rpf1/kosei k1/etc).
Cosmetically the car will be oem taffetta white most likely keeping the sideskirts black, splash guards on all four corner, amber corner lights, ex front oem lip, possibly a duck bill, and thats about it. Moderate functional drop. Clean and simple on the outside.
Also ill mention that the audio would be upgraded to nicer speakers with a better head unit and possibly a small sub. The car will have ac and full interior and potentially power steering.
I am wanting a balanced car thats fun to drive around(on all tracks), clean, and reliable. I will be doing 90% if not more of the work myself. Let me know what you think and your reason why. Thanks in advance!

H22 with spray. For a daily driver that you won't be soley using as a "racecar" I think you will prefer the more useable powerband of the large bore engine. Also In terms of reliability, when the kit is off you will be basically driving a stock Honda engine which as we all know is nearly a limitless platform as far as mileage goes is maintenance is done. With a boosted B18, even with an excellent tune you will be putting more wear on Internal engine parts everytime you come into positive pressure. Gas mileage will also be better with the NA H when just tooling around town. Get yourself a remote bottle opener, too and have fun spraying the H and experiencing torque!

Re: H2b eg or boosted gsr?
Thanks for the response. Yes I am thinking this may be the way to go as well. For similar reasons you have listed. Thing with the turbo gsr is I wouldnt be in much boost if any as often and I know with what Im going for it can be reliable since im not trying to push it to the limit. Regardless the h22 would be more reliable. Another thing to consider while I have been thinking about this is how the gsr would be a much easier swap as a whole since it would be plug and play verses the h22 with the harness length, brackets, and cutting of the hood or spacing and etc. Either way I know I could do either but just something ive been thinking about. Thanks again!
