Default H22A2 Vs H22a

So i have an important question for you guys. I have now in my possesion (after 5 months) a H22A2 engine (UK Spec) I told the people i bought it from that i only wanted a JDM H22A engine, i even explained to them that if it had a number after the A i did not want it. But i have it now. Do you think i should mess around with sending it back or should i just keep it and use it? it comes out of a 94 prelude. Does anyone even know the specs on the UK H22A2 (94 lude)? Your opinions are need desperatley.

The compression is probably 10:1 for the H22A2 while the H22A has 10.6:1. It depends on your modifications. Don't know about the UKDM ecu, but the JDM one has a speed governor at 120mph. I believe since that is an earlier engine, it has a closed deck block (good for boost). Earlier JDM engines are also closed deck, but sometimes you can get an open deck (better for N/A because of water jacket).

What about the Horse Power Differance should i go through the trouble to get the JDM spec at 200hp or take the the UKDM at 186hp?

Are they the same price or are they charging you for a jdm and giving you a cheaper motor?

I bought it from Jap Auto Spares in Sheffield and i paid 750 quid for it. Do you have a better deal for me, or do you want that one?

Naah its ok, I have a single unit being held for me for practically the same price (JDM H22a though with ecu, intake and airbox, loom ad all sensors). I need a closed deck because i may be using 14:1+CR pistons into it. But need to go to the chemical outlets to price up a 200litre drum of Tolulene and a drum of heptane. 14:1 will have trouble ruing on 98 that we get here, it would realistically need around 110-120 octane fuel but that would be too expensive to mix; Thats where 'Rocket Fuel' comes into play. Remember this recipe peeps: 86% Tolulene 14% Heptane + very crazy ignition timing!

Should be fun. I'm aiiming for around 300 at the flywheel, & the motor is going to go into a early Civic (92-95) ]

But the fuel is all important, if I cant get it cheap enough then Im sticking to 13.5:1 and gonna run it on 105oct.

What do you plan on building it for? FI or NA?

Unless your going FI or crazy compression then theres not much need for the closed deck engine. And most likely you got one from a 5th Gen so it'll probly be a lot newer.

FI = Forced Induction, i.e. turbo or Supercharged.

A closed deck engine is more suited to high/extreme combustion chamber pressures as occuring in turbo engines with high boost output. This is because the top of the block has a 'deck' that adds rigidity to the cylinders.

how can you tell if it is a closed deck motor?? Is there a way to tell the year of the motor?? (imprinted somewhere?)

Since the heading for this topic is H22A2 Vs H22A thought it may be appropriate place.

Could somebody please tell me whether or not an Oxygen Sensor for the H22A2 would fit and work correctly in a H22A?

Im having great difficulty locating the sensor for the H22A in UK, so far only found it for H22A2 - and hoping this will work.

Any help much appreciated
