i have a obd1 h22a in my 97 civic running a p13 ecu. last time, my rpm would go to 4000 rpm when i started the car but i found the problem. that was my tps sensor being out of place. now i started the car again and this time the rpm bounces from 3000 to 1000 (just keeps going up and down) and it will not stop. i also don't get a CEL so i don't know what else it could be. can this be a vaccum problem or something else. can this also be caused by not having a paper gasket btwn the tps sensor and the t-body? pls. any help would do. thanks in advance.

we have found our iacv to be the culprit of this a few diff. times. if you have another iacv swap it and see.

what is the iacv i had the same problem but my tps sensor just blew off my tb so if i replace the whole tb will it fix the problem with the iacv

iacv is not on the tb, it's on the intake manifold, i replaced my iacv and my h22 does not have crazy rpm's anymore.

Did you check your fast idle thermo valve mounted under the throttle body?

ok, i replaced my iacv and checked the two hoses for any tears/leaks/air bubbles and still bad.

hey dragline, what do i need to check on the FIT valve? i also checked the hoses but i didn't see any physical damage on them. pls. help and thanks again in advance.

Sounds like a vacuum leak... Hook up a boost gauge if you have one and see what your vacuum is at. Mine is normally at 20.

Sounds like it could be vacuum dac...does it do it all the time? or only when it warms up?

hahaha yea i didnt think id ever see me here either, but, hey, I have a honduh too now you could also try and spray carb cleaner or starting fluid around gaskets, and hoses to help you find the leak. when the rpms change, you've found it! also, no can do on october 8th. Thats seven stock in irvine! me, head and all the rest of the 7's are heading out there. you should come!
