AVI 1/4 mile time H22A EG6 Bad Night at Texas Motorplex. No 3rd Gear.
First time out with my H22A EG6 at Texas Motorplex, Ennis TX. I could not get any traction to save my life. Never got it in 3rd gear. Not use to the instant Green start. It was a bad night at the track.
Texas Motorplex is ~460 ft. elevation so I figured I could get real decent time at least 14s NA on Street tires. (that's what I get for thinking).
My set up:
92 EG6 Full interior W/AC (very much need in TEXAS)
18" Konig W/ Nitto 450 215/35 (**** for traction tires)
H22A M2A4 Non LSD, but I can lay two tracks every time. it's an A4 not B4 (sorry) and Thanks Brandon!
Venom VCN 1000 Black nozzle (~100 shots)
MSD SCI Plus, Walbro, FPR set to 40PSI, Timing 16 deg,
Retard 2 deg for Nitrous, #6 Denso plugs
DC Sport headers, Carsound CAT,
5zeigen Fireball, and Spoon ROM. Ground control CO.
Butt DYNO, Don't know how much it weighs prob ~2200-2400?
And a Bad driver. I'm still trying to learn how to lauch this beast.
some of my times.
Best:
R/T 1.103
60' 2.520
330 6.245
1/8 9.314
MPH 80.17
1000 11.926
1/4 14.092
MPH 104.83
Next Best time:
R/T .918
60' 2.394
330 6.105
1/8 9.396
MPH 68.26
1000 12.342
1/4 14.651
MPH 99.34
Trying hitting third 2 or 3 time in this run. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! Bastardized Honda 3rd gear.
This is just one F-ed up run. Boy what a night I'm having. Double jumpped Start the starting line.
R/T .167
60' 3.662
330 7.518
1/8 10.937
MPH 72.07
1000 13.788
1/4 16.101
MPH 98.92
That's Probe is my friend's His best time that night was 14.2 V6 w/75 shots ZEX system.
Give me some pointer how to get a better 60 foot time. How do you guys with H22s lunch. I tried 3000-5000 RPM dumping the clutch / 2 step at 4000 RPM Nothing helped. I know my RT sucks but that will get better. Anyone in DFW area rebuild tranny? I still don't really know how fast my EG6 will be if I had third gear. I gues it's not bad almost broke into 13 without a 3rd gear and street tires.

Re: AVI 1/4 mile time H22A EG6 Bad Night at Texas Motorplex. No 3rd Gear. (ICANTDRIVE)
ok this is what I do.
I do my small burnout in the waterbox and turn the wheel back and forth till I see a little smoke, when i see smoke I take the ebrake off and let the car pull me to the line while still doing my burn out. I do this so i can get all the water off the tire after I leave the waterbox. I stage and bring my revs up till about 3500-4000 and hold it there, as soon as the light turns green I release the clutch slowly till I feel the tire either spinning or hooking up. It usually spins a little but when I feel it grab I let go of the clutch and floor it. It takes a lot of practice to master but I have been able to get 2.1 60' time with my shitty 195/50/15 Kuhmos. Keep trying you should see 13's soon.HTH
BTW.. R/T has nothing to do with 1/4 time unless your racing bracket or heads up.
That 14.0@104 was that on nos?

WOW that's a lot to think about when you're on the line. My adrenaline is sky high. As soon as that sucker turns green I dump the clutch and I don't remember any thing else. LOL. That's what make this such a thrill. You're getting 2.1 60' time? I'll be dreaming about getting those kinds of time. I was spinning most of 1st gear and second gear. Bad driver. Letting the clutch out slowly, won't that burn out your clucth?
I was going 1st 2nd and 4th on Nitrous.

Re: (ICANTDRIVE)
yes its a lot to think about but after doing it a couple time it almost becomes second nature. BTW... DO NUT DUMP THE CLUTCH, not only will that NOT help your 60' time it can also cause the differential or axle to break.

What car were you in? I was in the black ek hatch. Yeah street night sucks . I was also not getting traction. 2.3's were consistent for me . Were you that black eg with the exhaust to the side? My best time was 14.5 with 2.3's @ 95

Yep Black (acutally Phantom Gray).
I wish I could get 2.3 all the time. I think I could get in the 13s easily with 3rd gear and my Bad driving. I need to learn how to launch FWD cars. Yeah your car sounds good. What's your setup?

Yeah I saw your car there. The announcer was saying your car was launching at 9k. I was just laughing. I just have a b18b i/e clutch and bottle. Need header and hope to be in the 13's. Not a good night for me . What happened to your 3rd gear? Did you see that wreck right outside the gates?

LOL That's funny 9K I was trying out my MSD 2 step @4K Thhe first was NA so I used the 2 step. Forot to let go of the button way into 2nd gear LOL. Noobie Racer DOH! So I didn" use it the rest of the night. That"s one funny announcer. 14.5 B18B is damn good. I think my 3rd gear synchro is wacked. Ican drive The car normally and it will go into 3rd fine. At hight RPM, it will not go in to 3rd. I tried and tried, but NO GO. So I shifted 1,2, and 4 on my best run. Then I raced a turbo Eclipse he beat me but I ran 14.5, again 1,2, and finished in 4th. Totally frustrating night. But good experience. Hope I can do better after I get the synchro fixed.

i pulled consistant 14.3's(with 2.4, 2.3 60 fts.) with 16 inch nitto 450's and a stock gsr motor..that was in a 92 hatchback..I say ditch the 18's and get something smaller with a stickier tire for the dragstrip..there's no point in running your street tires there..especially if you have a h22 with nitrous...your just asking to spin out..you can get in the thirteens easy with your set up...as for your third gear..that **** gets expensive to fix.. good times for no third gear and big rims.

2.39 60' was the best I got out of those NITTOs. What size street tires are best for the track? I had some good experience with YOKAHAMAs on the streets. I'm thinking of getting 15s bc they are lighter. My goal is to get into 12s with street tires. 12.3 116 what car was the set up?

12.3 in my 99 integra..when it was only making 276 whp at 14lbs..now it makes about 296 at 11 lbs, but i've yet to take it to the track again...I use to run on some nitto 555 r's, the best i ran was 12.8..now i run on slicks...After awhile you'll learn it's not even worth wasting street tires at the track, especially when you start making power..

Putting that kind of HP to the pavement, what size slicks are you using? I was told by my friend Viren that I should use 24" with my H. BTW: That is a sick TEG man 296WHP with 11 lbs boost? WHOA... Nice set up man. Thinking about Boost myself but my Compression is high ~270psi accross the board. And I'm not a good tuner. (DANGEROUS)

That 2.3 60' for the tires you are running isn't bad at all. Street tires (depends on the size), but even 205/50R15's or what not, and you will spin the **** out of them.
When I was at the track, I ran on baby slicks 20x8x14 M/T slicks.
I sat in the water box a couple times and finally burned them a little (when I pulled the 1.9 60').
I launched at 7000 RPM and just popped the clutch, and boy, that launch is HARD! It's an awesome feeling.
As for street tires, I launched at mainly 2500 RPM's and featered the clutch and still pull like 2.5 60' times.. I've only ran on street tires in my coupe and that was the last time I'll ever do that lol.

Looks like I'm going to get some slicks. My buddy Viren told me I should get 24" I'm just not getting traction. I think this thing will do high 12s once I learn how to drive.

Re: (ICANTDRIVE)
Yep, it depends on the slicks size and the kind of axles you have though.
I have DSS axles and those things hold up very nicely. If you have some monsterous 24" slicks, then I'd definitely lock the axles or something when you launch.
You just hold up the e-brake while staging, and release the clutch a little so the axles are locked. And when you pop the clutch with the slicks, it'll push on the axles very hard rather than snapping power on them.
I was doing these with my slicks, but they are small enough to just pop the clutch.

that is exactly what I am wondering. But I figured there could be rare LSD trannies w/o LSD, kinda like the non LSD YS1.
wierd....
Non LSD would be the M2A4, LSD is the M2B4.

I'd say your signature is very misleading seeing as how you forget to mention NITROUS on that 14.0 run "without 3rd gear" dude.
Way to make people think you did that on motor though!

I noticed you have Hasport mounts AND A/C... me too. It's a very tight fit!
I cannot, for the life of me keep my alternator belt tight. What belt are you using? I think I need to get a longer belt, because the alternator is cramming into the a/c lines as it is, and I can't pull the alternator up anymore because it starts digging into the a/c lines really bad.
Do you know what belt exactly you're using?
Also, what axles are you using?
We should meet up some time and check out eachothers cars...are you a good troubleshooter?
