Default H22A dual stage VTEC/Secondary butterfly?

I've got an H22A in my EG and I was just wondering if the secondary butterly should be zip tied open? I've seen numerous GSR swaps with the butterflies zip tied open and was just wondering if the same must be done with the H22 swap, because there always closed. Would zip tying them open give me an increase in performance or would it not do much at all?

Thanks

If anything, it would drop lower end performance. I don't see how it would gain.

I'll let an expert respond though.

You will lose some low end like EsQueue said. But it's a way of dealing with it if you don't have an stock ECU or a chipped ECU with IAB functionality.

I have a chipped p28 w/ skunk2 program. So should I leave it closed or put a zip tie around it to have it open or vice versa?

If you're not going to run it the proper way, definately keep it open. Better to lose a little low end than lose top end.

Or can I just run any vaccum line to it? Would that work? A budddy of mine was telling me to hook up one of my "extra" accum lines on my intake manifold to that mushroom thing (not sure what it is exactly) which sends vaccum to that secondary butterfly. Question is how does it open and close just off vaccum? Would it always be open WOT if thats the case? and close on release?

That'll work. Under vacuum it closes the butterfly valves. So when you go full throttle and there's almost no vacuum in the manifold, it'll open the secondary runners. The only downside is that it won't happen at a specific RPM like it's designed, but it will open and close.

I vote that you open it completely.
The skunk2 program is designed for their single runner intake, it already compensates for the open air flow at the bottom end - a stock H22 fuel map would not.
Seeing as you're not stock, open that sucker up as if you were running the Skunk2 manifold that they intended you to run with the program.
Final answer FTW

I have opened mine up and there was no noticable power loss. If anything it added a little more torque(I also run it fairly rich on the bottom end)

just buy a skunk2 intake manifold, or a blox.

expletive the Skunk2.Spend your money on a good manifold.Either go with a Euro R that has no secondaries or send your manifold to blacktrax.net and let them work there magic on it.Or buy a SKUNK2 and have it machined.

Why would I have to machine the skunk 2 manifold tho? How would this work?

So you can port match it to your head.Like i said i'd just go with Blacktrax.net.You send them your stockie and they machine it and take out the IAB's.http://www.blacktrax.net/btp_H22_IM.html
