Default H22 vs. B Series Weight

Posted this in the Tech forum, but did not receive any answers. Hoping you all can help me find out this information.

I am trying to determine the weight difference between a H22 longblock and a B series longblock (B16 and B18c). Did a search and found results comparing the shortblock weight and tranny weight, but cant find anything that compares the longblock weights. If anyone has this info handy, please let me know.

I am basically trying to figure out the approximate weight of my H2B setup vs. a typical B16/B18 swap.

Thanks,

-J

I surely dont want to start another war, I simply want an estimation on the weight difference between the longblocks.

do a search, someone weighed a bunch of motors, trans, and other stuff out. IIRC the difference in total was only like 40 lbs. its really not that much of a difference.

Thanks, as I mentioned above, I did search and couldn't find an answer. Found lots of different engine weights, but not what I am looking for.

my guess:
60 lbs heavier than a b18c
75 lbs heavier than a b16

These are your approximations for the differences in the longblock weight, not including the transmission?

Assuming you had about the same amount of weight in the car, this is the best answer I have found so far. Thanks!

there is a thread on here about the exact differences...someone weighed them. but the new search sucks *****. i searched for 20 minutes and couldnt find it....but i have read it. motor to motor it was like 15lbs. and with the trans it was like 35 lbs. fully dressed was never weighed but estimated at 50-60lbs. this was over a b16 if i recall correctly. and it was with an h22 trans, which is considerably heavier than a b series trans.....wish i could find that thread....

I am wondering why you are interested in the weight differences?

I am building up an H2B motor, so I am curious as to what the H22 longblock and B series tranny each weigh. I got my answer...

Ook because I seen people use this in H vs B series discussion .....and more then often that it is repeated that the difference in weight isnt as much as people assume

I know you can shave "about" 10lbs off the H22 when the balance shafts are removed...
