Default H22 TYPE S price installed???

I'm looking to get a H22 TYPE S installed in my 97 EX. what I want to know is how much did everyone pay for there h22 swaps so I know what would be a fair price to pay to get it done? right now I'm looking at a $3600.00 w/lsd trans installed. Is this a good price, or should I keep looking? Also I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the S and the normal A... what should I look?
Thanks Steven

That's "decent" for an installed price. Make sure you're inquiring with multiple shops to get the best deal.

Blue valve cover. That's the main obvious difference between a regular H22A and the Type S.

Type S has a red valve cover.

H23A VTEC and F20B have blue.

externally the lsd and red valve cover are really the only way to tell. There may be a different head casting number, but i'm not really sure.

also you said this is going into a 97ex. is that a civic or accord?

actually, i think 3600 installed is a damn good price and maybe even too good. Hmotors has a H22 Type S Motot/Trans/ECU for 3600. Would still need the mounts, axles, shift linkage, etc plus labor to install it.

are you sure you'd be getting a Type S and not just a normal h22?

LOL yeah i saw that on hmotorsonline (I really think that is over priced) but that is why I asked the 2nd part as to what to look for and how can I tell if the trans is LSD or not when it is not in the car?

i have just the regular h22 with lsd. think the tranny might have a different code, can't remember off the top of my head. mine is m2b4. i thought the type s tranny had a different one. not sure. also, for lsd trannies you should be able to look in one end and see out the other end of the motor.

$3,600 installed is a damn good price. But, i'd be worried I'll be waiting 6 months or getting some shotty work.

one more question if you could choose between the h22 and the GSR what motor would you go with.

Then that is a damn good price if the work they put out is quality. It's not very labor intensive and if they buy their motors themselves, they will still make bank on it. All the motor only places overcharge so much you'd crap yourself.

Looking back on it, I wish I had spent the extra $$ for the Type-S rather than a regular jdm h22a. 3600 is a great price for a type s installed.
