h22 / p13 ecu in civic - EGR issue, any way to eliminate?
I have a code 12 and 20 on my h22 swap hatch that i've been trying to sort out. As far as I can tell the previous owner miswired it, and although I re-wired it based on instructions I found on this sit and elseware I still trip a code 12 after the car has warmed up. I feel this is a huge waste of time trying to further diagnose the issue as we have no emissions testing up here at all, but what i'm wondering is when the CEL lights up is the car running is a limp mode and hurting performance?
I'm also wondering if there is a way to delete the egr system and trick the computer into thinkinng it's still there. We used to do this on fords with a series of resistors taped into the ends of the plugs for the EGR and EVP, is there a honda equivillant?
Or is my only option a p28/p72 re-tuned for an h22?

what i would do first is go to the junk yard and try to find an egr sensor or heck buy a new one (have no idea how much they are). The only way i know to eliminate it is by using a p28 and tuning it cause that ecu won't even recognize the egr

Go with a p28. get rid of the knock, iab, egr and even the o2 sensor if you want.
It's not easy to fool the egr system.. It's not a simple on/off system.
If VTEC engauges than you're not in "limp mode". From my time messing with the EGR system I never noticed a drop in performance with that CEL.

Yeah vtec is still working, well that is a relief, thanks 2point2.
I think I will go p28 and begin learning to tune in the near future, but its good to know that no harm is done running as she is now.
Are there ready made BIN files available for a stockish H22 that will make a p28 installation a plug and play?
One more question, will I miss the IAC's much if I eliminate them (open). I don't mind a bit of a loss in low end as long as it's not a dog.

you mean "IAB".
and no, you wont miss them much in a light 1992 civic.. you'll fly right up to the point where they open in no time at all. However, you're talking to a drag racer here.... and we see things differently than road racers.
If you know someone who can burn you a bin, and you have a chip, I can send you my old allmotor one.. but only if you promise to get the car tuned on the dyno and post up the results.

Great info, thanks! I found dyno sheets her eon HT that showed a minimal 5-6 ft/lb differance at low rpm from disabled (open) IACs. I can live with that.
2point2: I'll take you up on the BIN offer when i'm closer to gettibg the p28 and a dyno tune Thanks.
