h22 ek swap need help
I put a JDM 92-96 h22a in my 96 ek civic hatchback. It runs and idles good but I've got a cel showing code 4 crankshaft position sensor and when I drive the car the rpm's cut out realy early I cant tell exacly were because the tac is all screwy. I put in a new distributor and still the same code. Triple checked all the wiring. don't know what to do next. i've also got realy iratic tack action, I hardly touch the throttle and it jumps up to 5k

Re: h22 ek swap need help (Jago)
For the tach issue i would check all your grounds. I had a similar deal with my tach (jumped all over the place irradically) and it was my tranny ground. Make sure all 3 (tranny, vc, thermo) grounds are making good connections.

sounds kind of familiar to me...
when ur tach jumps, is the engine actually revving as high as it says, or is it just the tach jumping around and the engine stays the same?

hmm... well u can check ur distributor wires and see if they are messing up, look at the yellow/green wire and the blue wire too.
if they seem fine, u might wanna try ur ignition switch.
this happened to me before..: if i revved the car or just let it idle, when it got warm, the tachometer would start jumping around, like from 900 to 7k and back, but the engine's actual idle would stay the same. does that make sense?
after numerous tests, i took the ignition apart (piece under the steering column) there is a white piece on the back side of the ignition (has 2 phillips screws)
anyways, i took that off with all connecting wires, and then i took that white thing apart. there is a sort of spring loaded thing in there, and the spring was fried. i could tell cause it had no more tension on it, and there was black stuff all over the inside, well i just happened to have a spare ignition laying around from another honda, and i took it apart and they were the same, so u just replaced that entire metal spring thing. and that solved my jumping idle..
im still not quiet sure if ur having the same symptoms. but u might wanna check that.

well finaly got everthing right. I switched the two blue wires on the dis.
re-wired it and it works great. Now I've got 92-96 internal coil jdm h22 dis. and a 97 external coil dis. for sale $100 bucks each.
