H22 EG's with DSS Axles Step In
Okay, so I spent the loot for the DSS stage one axles for my hatch. They were beefier than my raxles and had a warranty for up to 220whp or something of the sort. So after a month of daily driving - the driver side is now clicking and has way more play in it than the passenger side.
Has anyone experienced this before?
This is the same side as my previous axle breakage
Just kinda looking for opinions on what to do i Guess

Re: H22 EG's with DSS Axles Step In (H23vtecEG)
my car is lowered maybe 2.5 inches, its not really "low" becuase my header is like an inch of the ground
Is having the play mean its about to break, or its just not the tightest fit?

Are you talking about shaft play?
What is it "playing" at?
The axle might not be long enough, in that case call Frank at DSS.

sounds like its not the correct length axle to me. ive had my raxles in my car for about 6 months with well over 15k miles on them and they havent given me any trouble ever.

Re: (v4lu3s)
You would think that after soo many swaps that Frank & DSS would get this right..
Well you may as well call them and then he will tell you to do the whole measure the axle play by taking off your nut and moving the axle back and forth. Bullshit to me if you spending your money on a product..

well i know the axles that i bought work great and all that but i also have only about an inch of drop on my hatch, and i am pretty sure that the axles were measured on less drop rather than more drop. to me 2.5 inhes of drop on an h22a civic is pretty ballsy to be on the street.

yea this is very true. considered the axle geometry isnt that great on an almost stock height car, i can only imagine what it looks like in a car with a 2.5" drop.
although to go against this, my friend has an h22 eg with HAsport axles and is slammed over 2" and he tracks the car almost every week and hasnt had any issues at all... go figure

Re: (Krnbk2)
I did contact DSS, the warranty will cover a repair, not a replacement.
I wouldnt consider my drop severe, there is only one other H22 hatch in the area and he is alot lower than me. Heres a pic of mine:
ANd heres a short vid of what Im talking about:

How do you know if the axles aren't fitting right? Do you feel it when you are driving, or do you feel it? I've never had any axle problems so I'm a little curious. I have the dss ones you have, and I'm as low as you are.

Re: (donz)
Driving is fine, but as it started to happen/became noticeable, I could hear a clicking from the driver side. It occurs most when slowing down, and under 15 mph. I think its unnoticeable during driving because it centers itself, but when slowing down, the force isnt there - so it move around.

He did this to me as well, and turned out my passenger axle was 1/8" of an inch too damn short to lock into the tranny. It's been good since then after a **** load of calling =X
BTW, I am dropped way more than that EG posted. There has to be another issue.
Best thing to do is to inspect the area and make sure the axles are in completely, and the axle nut is torqued.
