You dont need it. Its good to have but if u dont have the box just hook the secondaries up by a vacuum line.

Just like removed the balance shaft belt? 1-3whp will make a difference in our cars. When you are only working with 170-190whp, believe me, they can make a difference.

Get a life?
By the way, your start up fix didn't fix my start up. The only reason it seemed better at the time was b/c the motor was warm.

sorry not trying to jack this thread... i thought my situation might help you decide if you want it in there or not too, cause if i am throwing a code then why not keep it in... i don't think it hurts anything, just not sure if it HELPS.
thanks

No, that box has nothing to do with the codes you're throwing. Do you have egr hooked up? Did you lengthen your IAC wiring? Also, did you wire your 02 sensor correctly?

Re: H22 EG swap, WTF is this black box?????? (AudioFuct)
I have the same 41 code after H22 swap in Del Sol SOHC. Using stock SOHC engine wiring.
Try everything nothing help. Then find out that there no independent + on ECU after swap. Each time when ignition off and on ECU reseting. Strange, but I did not touch the under dash board wiring.
My black box pins was broken too. I was using the M6 bolts, drill the hole thrue the bolt. Dril directly trhue the bolt length, like chanel. Then screw it in the black box with glew in old places, before that I was cuted off old broken conection. Conect all vacum lines as they must be. But still don't understand the functionality of that devaice.
My friend recive the 5gen lude from USA with H22A4. This black box instaled near batery, not under IM. And there is vacum valve too like on secondaries TB!!!
Nothing conected at this valve, we decide that there was something on stock intake plastic tube. and something was moved buy the help of this valve. There are now AEM CAI.
Pic of car, maybe some one recognize this one:
