Default h22 EG Civic wont rev past 4k, solid CEL is on

Hi all,

I got my h22 civic on the road yesterday and everything was working correctly, it revved up fine and vtec engaged then all of a sudden 15-20mins into driving a solid CEL came on and it wouldnt rev past 4k or so. I am running a chipped P28. One thing I did notice was the oil level was a bit on the high side and oil was on the spark plug threads. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

The CEL was solid so I couldnt tell at that point. Im about to go recheck it and try a spare P28 I have. I know the ECU has gone into limp mode, I guess what I should of aksed is what are the common causes for an ECU going into limp mode? Especially as it was working fine before? Im thinking it might have something to do with cold start map vs normal operating temp map. Can too much oil cause the ECU to go into limp mode?

Thanks

Ok I just tried swapping over to anohter p28 running the same map and the solid CEL is still on. The solid CEL goes if I disconnect the service connector. I spoke to a local tuner and he said I should check that I have bridged D6 and A4.

For starters, I hardly doubt it's in limp mode, thats a very rare thing that happens. Change out your TPS sensor.

Ive had a couple of cars go into limp mode. Dont just start swapping sensors blindly. I have had a bad distributor make it so I couldnt rev over 3k as one of the sensors inside was shot.

With the swap, does the does the distributor have an internal or external coil?

If there is oil on the plug threads its probably a valve cover sparkplug seal, wouldnt worry about that (but fix it).
