Default H22/Civics I have some questions!??!

For some reason I am still getting CEL codes 5 and 14 on my swap.. Now i used the Civic harness and adapted it to fit the lude engine, however one thing I did notice was that there is no EGR valve on the Civic at all so I didnt make a plug for it.. What did you guys do?? Everything else is fine though and the car runs, however I would love to get it out of safe mode if I could..

Code 5: Map sensor
Code 14: IACV
EGR???

Thanks in advance, I am almost there.

do you have a map hooked up? I used the one from my old d16z6... make sure you hook one up and you don't confuse it with another plug.

What ecu are you using? If you;re not using the prelude ecu, don't worry about the egr. If you are using the lude ecu, wire in the EGR and the EGR solenoid.

Yeah actually when I first did it I confused the map sensor for the EGR plug but I was getting CEL codes 3, 14 and 5 then.. After I hooked it up I just get 5 and 14 now.. And none of those codes have nothing to do with the EGR anyways?? Do you know what pinouts the EGR goes to.. There are 3 wires in the plug in which I know at least two are sensors and one is a ground.

your map sensor must be broken. the EGR has nothing to do with those codes. make sure you don't have plugs mixed up. the iacv plug is the same as the iat and knock. i know the knock is only 1 wire, but you can still plug it in.

Its a possibility I used the one from the civic.. I still have the one from my Accord though and will probably use that and see if there is any difference.. As for the IACV I dont even know why I am getting that code. And the Civic doesnt have an EGR sensor nor a plug so I am sure that the plugs arent mixed up, but my question is do I need it.. Obviously the computer doesnt care because I am not getting a CEL code for it..

And the IACV is located in front of the Intake plenium right?? Right inbetween the fuel rail and the intake?? Or is it just me?

And yes knock sensor is one plug and it is wired already without any problems..

yeah the iac is on the intake plenum. did you try using the one of the accord and reset the ecm to see if it worked?

but my question is do I need it..
do you need what? the iac? the egr? you don't need the egr, you do need the iac. you know, it's funny, because i'm getting an iac code too. i dunno why.

lol Well that is good to know.. Have you had it since the swap or did you just get it recently?? As for now the EGR is ported back to the intake manifold but its not plugged into anything. And the only IACV I have is what came with the engine.. I will try to take it apart and clean this screen I have been hearing so much about then see what is up from there...

The only thing I am wondering is if I am getting the CEL 14 code because the ECU cant see the EGR?

i've had the IAC light since the swap. so are you still getting the MAP sensor CEL? do you have a JDM P13 ECM?

Yeah I was.. I was getting 3 and 5 at first. But after I plugged in the Civic map sensor I got a 5 only. I will try plugging in the one from my Accord and see if that changes anything.. And how is your car running? Since you are in safe mode I assume you can't go into vtech?

i don't like hearing all these trouble codes

how did you guys do the wiring....adapt the civic harness to fit the Lude ECU? or some other ECU remapped and then rewire from there?

EDIT: so kiDD.....you are using the stock Lude ECU, yes? I don't know exactly what you mean by adapting the civic harness to fit the h22. what did you do about ECU? adapt it also to fit the JDM ecu?

my motor is running great now. it's not running in safe mode. everything has been fixed except the iac code which isn't a big deal.

Yeah I am using the JDM p13 ecu, and I adapted the Civic harness to fit. I just want to make sure everything is running right on the ECU side before i really beat on it... So the car is running fine even though you have the IACV check engine light??

Yeah I am using the JDM p13 ecu
that's why you're not getting an EGR light. it doesn't even look for it.

So the car is running fine even though you have the IACV check engine light??
yeah, the only problem is it idles at 1.5k and won't go down even when warm. i'm gonna do some little things to it today and see what happens.

no, jdm P13 ecu's definitely check for EGR ..trust me.. thats why i should have a P72 ecu within a few days.. no EGR, since its the only cel i have and its giving me the looping idle .. must be do to no hole drilled for the hondata IM gasket

they don't have EGR valves or EVAP canisters on Japanese Preludes (among other cars). so the ECM doesn't look for it. i don't have an EGR hooked up and i never got a CEL for it. i don't have a hole drilled in my Hondata gasket either. are you sure you have a JDM ECM? btw: thanks for the distributor, you saved me.

that is weird but seriously the ecu is JDM .. it cuts off at 7700 and has a limiter at 117mph ...and runs damn rich so if that wasnt enuff proof then i dont know what is.. and let me tell ya my engine sure came with an EGR as well as all h22a's except for the B18C1 that i know of because their ecu doesnt even have the code for it.

Well the EGR is there I can attest to that.. However I do not get a code for it, which I find very weird. However the map is plugged in but I still get a code 5 so I am lost there. But like you said maybe it bad and needs to be changed.. Boss, did anything work for you as far as the AICV code?? I will ask some other peoples this week and see what they have to say..

oh, i didn't have an IAC light, it was a TPS light. the dude who worked on my car told me it was an IAC but it was a code 7, so he was obviously wrong. if you're still getting that light, your IAC must be bad. check in the helms to see if there's some kind of test for it. have you tried the accord map yet?
