Default h-series and f-series tranny's the same size/shape?

Im wanting to try and find either an f-series or h-series tranny bell housing to transplant over everything from one tranny to the other, since the current housing has damage that cannot be ignored. If my assumption is correct in that they are the same shape and size, is it possible to take the guts of an h2 tranny and put tem into another h-series bell housing, or into an f-series bell housing?

I am also assuming automatic bell housings are the same inside and out, not including the guts of the auto tranny. Can anyone verify this?
