Default Gsr swap harness question

What kind of harness should I be using? Ive read through countless topics, but its hard because my car is so much of a frankenstein that I dont know which topics relates to me.
About the car: I have a 97 civic ex automatic, it has an 00 front end conversion, and an 00 dash conversion. And soon to have a jdm b18c gsr manual engine.
Heres what Ive learned: Correct me if anything is untrue.
The gsr harness wont fit into an ek chasis. The gsr ecu is obd2a. 96-98 civics are obd2a. 99-00 civic are obd2b. People say use the stock harness, but it was automatic, so I sold it. Ive been told to use an ex or si harness.

Now, I found a 99-00 ex harness for a steal of a price. Ive been told by some sources that I shouldnt use it since its obd2b and I need obd2a.

1. Should I buy this 99 ex harness or should I keep shopping for a obd2a harness?
2.Do I want an obd2a harness because the car is obd2a or because the ecu is.
3. since everything on the car is 99-00 including underneath the dash, Should I be shopping for obd2b?
4. If not, then why do people suggest an SI harness when thats obd2b?

Everything I've ever seen says to use the stock harness that came with the car. Anything else might be asking for headaches.

What type of dash harness do you have? Does the car have all the original wiring harnesses except the engine harness?

if the ecu plugs are still original you are in good shape. You need to use a 96 98 auto or 5 spd harness. (civic harness)

I have a 2000 civic ex and swapped an obd1 b18c1 and used my original engine harness in my civic, it was almost plug and play besides the distributor and a sensor on the intake..no iab bc I am running a first gen skunk2 intake manifold.
