GSR dowel pins
hey i just recently did a ls/vtec conversion on my ek. everything went well until i realized that i was missing a dowel pin and decided to go ahead and finish and see if my vtec will still work without it. well come to find out it worked for like 10 min then quit working. ive done some research and found out that you dont really need them but my vtec isnt working. i was temporarily using a friends p73 ecu just to do a test run since i havent gotten my s300 in yet. need help and dont know what to do next!

Re: GSR dowel pins
I doubt your dowl are causing lack of vtec. Any cels? Most likely if no cels pull cam cap #3 (iirc) and check for o ring missing/mis aligned. Screen filter on vtec sly. Run power straight from (+) side of battery to vtec plug(actual vtec plug gray one) if it clicks then it works

the only code its throwing out is the one for O2 sensor which i havent replaced YET lol. i will try doing that when i get off work today and let you know how that goes. i just think its crazy that it was hitting vtec for a while then all of a sudden its quits.

the O2 code was popping up before i did the conversion. do you think it could be because my timing is off? its starts bogging badly if i were to floor it.

Yes fix all mechanical/cel before worrying about fuking vtec, **** is lame anyway and unless you want your motor to blow fix **** before trying to play

Ok sorry to sound rude but if motor is not 100% healthy, timed, or in 100% running order what good is any vtec going to do for you? Honda designed vtec to work in a fail same manner if that what u choose to word it.

Re: GSR dowel pins
i know and i understand. i knew the timing was off but i didnt think it would affect the vtec. im kinda new to the honda game so its a 'learn from your mistakes' thing for me. lol the motor is pretty healthy besides the timing being off. i know the timing isnt gonna be 100% being an ls/v so i wasnt expecting that to be the cause of it. i will be doing the timign today when i get off work and let you know what happens after that.
