the type r head will be good on a stock gsr block, but the best head is the gsr block, its going to take some loot to see the results from the gsr but its a better design all together

B16 head + ITR internals/manifold.
cheaper and identical.
also, dont build a car just to beat someone. build it for a real goal.

a GS-R head would be the best thing to put back on there.
if you put a ITR head or a B16A head on it, the compression would be lowered because the combustion chamber is a bit bigger. so unless you mill the itr/b16/pr3 head, and build that, the GS-R one would better suit it.
are you planning on replacing the pistons in the GS-R block? how much headwork are you planning on doing? n/a or boost?

b16 head on that monster block, with itr valvetrain..higher reving=more power high end, although ive heard that putting a b16 or itr head would hurt your power below, i think it's not a good match, but if you must, do it....

Oh man, the good old head debate again.....
Both heads are good, as gsr head makes 2-4 hp at the wheels more than a b16(pr3) head till about 5500-6000rpm, them the PR3 makes 2-4hp more from that point on.
GRS (p72) has the slight advantage of square quench area's which are less prone to detination.
