Got My B18C1 Swap Today
It's a '97 w/ 58K miles. I saw the car before the engine was yanked and everything is good...except for a hole in the tranny case...internals are good, though.
Went to pick it up today...they did an excellent job pulling everything. Sensors are all good, all the mounts are there, linkage, full exhaust manifold + the cat, wiring harness, ecu, etc. They also took off the entire K frame for me, so I get to use that with the K frame brace.
It's all sitting in my basement now. Gonna pull off the PS, AC, alternator, intake manifold tomorrow. ...then comes the fun. I'll be building it this winter and dropping it into the car this Spring...
Good times!

Re: Got My B18C1 Swap Today (star&buc)
I'm an autocrosser, not a drag racer, so the car has been built as such thus far. I've been racing it this season (on my way to the last one race now, actually...) in STS, but will enter SM next season.
Suspension is beautiful at this point. I'll be adding a Comptech rear sway bar to compensate for the extra weight up front:
Suspension
H&R Coilovers
Ingalls Front and Rear Camber Correction Kit
Rota "Cirtuit 8" 16" Wheels
Yokohama A520 205/45/16 Tires
'99-'00 Civic Si Complete Brake Conversion (knuckles, trailing arms, hubs, calipers, rotors, pads, master cylinder, booster, proportioning valve)
Powerslot Rotors - at all four corners
AEM (Nissin) pads - at all four corners
Goodridge Stainless Lines - at all four corners
Interior
Spacro "Torino" Red Seats
Sparco "Techno" Red/Silver Shift ****
Spacro (Red Jacqard) Fabric On Door Cards, Center Console, and Gauge Surround Cover
Schroth "Rally 3" Red Harnessbelts and Pads
OBX (I think) Short Shifter
Honda Civic Si Gauge Cluster
AC AutoTechnic Reverse Electro Luminescent Gauge Face Covers
AC AutoTechnic "3D" Alluminum Gauge Bezzel
AC AutoTechnic Gunmetal Emergency Brake Handle
OBX Gunmetal Racing Pedal Set w/ Dead Pedal
JDM Civic Type R-Style Shift Boot w/ Red Stitching
Honda Civic Si Center Console
Exterior
Civic SiR Front Chin Spoiler
Civic Type R-Style Black Headlights
Civic Type R-Style Roof Spoiler
Color-Matched Side Mouldings, Mirrors, and Door Handles
OEM Mudflaps
Drive Train
APEX-i N1 Catback Exhaust
USDM B18C1 swap in my basement (FINALLY!)
I've already got a Skunk2 intake manifold and cam gears...planning either stage 2 cams or turbo cams, depending on if I decide to go turbo or not...obviously with titanium retainers/valve springs. It'll definately get a quaife and prolly new synchros when I transfer the tranny internals to a new tranny case...maybe a Spoony gear set/final drive...we'll see. OBD1 conversion + P28 ECU w/ a Hondata 4b is a must. I'm looking at the HKS tubular turbo manifold or a JDM ITR header if I stay NA. MSD 6AL, 410 injectors, fuel pump, rail, fpr, etc...
It's going to be a fun winter.
...and NOOOOOOOOO!!! I'm NOT a thug! ...and I'm right at 6'. I think the angle makes the engine look smaller than it should. I'll post better pics after she's cleaned up nice 'n shiny.

Re: Got My B18C1 Swap Today (TheRedSkoolingBus)
thanks for the compliments...i can't wait to get it in.
my last car was a '99 supersonic blue integra gsr, so i'm very familiar with the engine. the car before that was an ef crx si which i did my first swap in with the help of some friends from the old crx-forum.org site...a zc back in '98. i've helped with other b18 hybrids, but never in an ek. i'm getting the place mounts, so i think it should be pretty straight-forward.
anyone know which radiator i should use? i'll get a fluidyne, but need to know which application to get it for.

transfering all the guts of the transmission over to a new case isn't too dificult but I would ask, 'What caused the hole?'
Also, If you are going to go to all that trouble I would highly recommend an LSD. Quaife is my personal choice particularly since you AutoX. Its perfect for that.

Re: Got My B18C1 Swap Today (92sleepR)
Here are some preliminary pics of the Project Civic's new engine.
As you can see, it really needs some cleaning. Once it's up on the stand, I plan to give it a thorough detailing.
Here's a shot of the dual-runner factory intake manifold...
...and here's a shot of the new Skunk2 replacement manifold that'll be going on it soon. :D
Here's some dead weight (AC compressor and PS pump).
Factory exhaust manifold...to be replaced with "something" soon.
The engine stand it'll be going on for the winter as soon as I pop off the tranny.
Here's the GSR K-frame and steering rack. This would be an excellent upgrade for anyone who's got an EG Civic. Unfortunately, it won't bolt up to the EK Civic.
ECU, throttle cable, remaining portion of exhaust man, and cat.
Here's the worst part of the deal...the tranny case. It took the brunt of the impact and took a chunk out of the housing where the tranny mount bolts to it. The internals of the tranny are good, and I'll be transferring them to a new tranny case...will be doing a synchro replacement and Quaife LSD at the same time.

Re: Got My B18C1 Swap Today (97GSR Hatch)
heh - i prolly do look young for 23, nearly 24. oh well. i think it'll be to my benefit when i get even older (i'm nearly an old man already!)
the k-frame will bolt up to '92-'95 civics. let me know if you're interested. i have no need for it.
i've been tuning hondas since '95, and this'll be my 2nd person hybrid. the first was a zc in a crx si (barbados yellow...mmmm...i miss that car!). i've helped with many other swaps...other zcs, b18s in egs, b16s in efs, etc. this is going to be my "theosis". i'll be sure to keep this thread up to date with progress.
tonight i pulled off the alternator, the wiring harness, the fuel rail, etc. i've got everything off the intake manifold, and it's only held in by two bolts that i need to get a 12mm open end to get to. hopefully i can pull it off tomorrow...then the tranny...then it goes onto the engine stand.
the "replacement manifold" i'm looking at is the hks tubular turbo manifold.

Re: Got My B18C1 Swap Today (Benny Z)
Finally got the beast up on the engine stand. I’ve yet to clean it up, but wanted to post some progress.
Here’re some pics. Notice the genuine Honda oil filter…a nice sign that it’s been well maintained. Also, the original clutch and flywheel look GREAT. I’ll bet the lady owner pooched it.

Re: Got My B18C1 Swap Today (Benny Z)
Looks good man. But you are saying you are using the engine in an autocross car huh. Maybe you should have kept the GSR intake mani. Better midrange.
