And God said"let me chirp in 2nd" and it was so...
I will soon join the dual overhead camshaft world, my sleeping cx with the popped piston ring will be tossed from its eg shell and replaced with a b16a2 Holleluya! No more closing my eyes and mashing the gas to merge into freeway traffic. No more watching tailights get increasingly smaller on backroad street-races. Praise him! Now... Now this day is soon upon us. I will be one of you brethrin... I will be.... a Hybrid. Give him thanks! Holleluya!

Even with CTR cams, r intake, RS*R 4-2-1, etc, the B16A is a dog anywhere below 7000RPM. Maybe I'm just spoiled by my SC Civic.

<<Haven't seen an N/A B16 that can touch(no pun intended)a mildly tuned b18c1.

it's true..i have a b16 stock in my del sol vtec...i ran the a/c today and almost got smacked pulling out into traffic. you have to rev the snot out of the motor to get power..i'm pulling the b16 in my EF in favor of a b20...

B18C will eat a B16 everytime (Assuming they have the same mods). Get a B18C (Even if you have to save a little while longer, it'll be worth it).

Whether people are jumping on a bandwagon or not, I don't own a B20. You won't see a B16 under the hood of anything I own either. There is no denying that a B16 is torqueless or that a B18/B20 is a better place to start. I've rode in many B16 powered hatches/coupes and most of the stock to lightly modded ones feel like an EX until you get wayyyyyyyy up to about 7K - that's not practical for normal street driving/racing. Horsepower is more easily obtainable than torque, so why not start off with a better engine - B18B, B18C, B20, H22?

i like my b16 but i would get a b18c if i did it all over again. it just takes too much to get it going. it has absolutely no torque. if you just want a quick daily driver then a b16 is ok for you. it suits my daily driving purposes for now. when money permits it will be going over to the dark side or getting a 1.8 or 2.0 block.
