Gathering more info about H22 to EK
HT Gods,
I just need some opinions and some help if possible.
Im about to purchase an 2001 H22 engine (long block) for dirt cheap, I havent seen the engine yet but I will pick up this sunday. Im will use it as my DD.
I do not have knowledge on H22 swaps or any swaps at all, and as of now Im reading all the information here so I can have at least see what Im getting into.
Im still reading so I can get other information, but I do have questions that I know you GOD's can answer.
Q1: Since my car is OBD2, should i just go and find all the parts from the prelude and swap it over?
Q2: From what Ive read, if I use the HCP/HASport mounts, the axles would be crooked? Not sure, still reading.
I know that some will tell me to "use search" or "google" or "theres a sticky", Im just getting the practical info's from the ones who have done an H22 swap.
Any parts you can suggest that works for you would be helpful.
Thanks in advance. I will keep reading to decide which mounts and ecu to use.

Re: Gathering more info about H22 to EK
I might go with H2B.
Ive read that there is a hood clearance issue and the axles would be crooked, is it true?
Also, from what Ive read, it always say "GSR tranny". Is the GSR tranny the only one that could work on it or any B-series Tranny?
I have found mounts and axles for the H2B for just $300, i think it would be ok since its gonna be a DD.
Im kinda in a budget, it would take a while for me to put everything in the car. that's why im getting as much info as i can, research research research.
Thanks for the reply's.

B16, ITR, GSR, LS all these trans will work however they are all different in gearing and some have LSD etc..
The Axles won't be crooked. I dont know who told you that but they will be fine..
The hood clearance is a slight issue but a spacer for the hood (where it bolts up) will fix that.
All in All the H2B is a VERY good swap. if you are on a serious budget you can go all H22 and it will still be a very good swap. It really depends on what you want to do with this.
daily driver and just rip on it occasionally (the h22 swap with the H22 trans will be more than adequate)
weekend driver and more of a racecar i'd say go with the H2B
Either one will be a fun swap with plenty of power.
Good luck on whatever you decide!

Re: Gathering more info about H22 to EK
h2b kits were originally designed to resolve the axle and transmission issues that normal h22 swaps have.
Any b-series transmission will work.
With the QSD kit any b-series mounts will work.
With 6th generation civics hood clearance isn't an issue with any h2b kit.
Here's the FAQ for H2b stuff:

an hour or two and some beers and you'll know everything you need to know about h2bs.
