Default fully built b20/vtec running good just one problem???

ok fully built b20/vtec. just put the motor in the car and everything has been going fine except when vtec engages it hesitates alot. i have swapped out a few vtec solenoids all with the same results. Ignition timing is set 2 deg advance from stock. running b16 head golden eagle intake manifold, gsr cams skunk 2 valve train, fully built and sleeved bottom end. anyone have any ideas????? please help. o and i can hear the crossover point but is loses power and sputters alot. also running hondata s200 with a jdm gsr map, and rc 750 cc injectors. thanks

Reduce your timing to 2 degrees retard from stock.

Also I'm guessing your gettting too much fuel. 750cc injectors are huge!

what is the vtec engagement point set at on the computer. I see you said you were using a gsr map and gsr vtec comes in at 4500. If vtec start to come in at 4500 I would change vtec engagement to 5500 and change the fuel injectors to like 440cc injectors. If you have a fuel pressure gauge see what your fuel pressure is at when your car is idling. I had a built b20/vtec with 12.5:1 compresssion I was running 310cc injectors and 50psi at idle and my vtec engagement was at 5500. I wish I would have gotten bigger injectors but 310cc is pretty much all you can use on a stock computer but, it wasn't leaning out. Goodluck

vtec point is set for 5400. the only thing i can possibly think of is its getting to much fuel when vtec kicks in. or the base map is ****(like most hondata base maps). in hondata the fuel pressure is set a 38 psi. i set it at 35 with the line on. the motor is built for turbo i just put everything together to get it up and running before i put the kit back on i wanted to make sure everything is going to work ok. like i said it runs good any time vtec is the only problem.

Thats probably your problem. Your injectors are huge.

yeah now that i think of it that has to be it. i know it is getting oil everytime i have pulled the vtec solenoid off it has had plenty of oil in it and none of the lines are blocked and no leaks. plenty of oil in the motor and wiring is correct. and my oil pressure gauge is reading everything correctly. plenty of pressure

the problem is probably in your base map like turbogixxer said. We dynoed a B20vtec turbo yesterday and the base map was out of wack....right when vtec engaged, it bogged down and leaned out super bad. Dumped hella fuel in it and still did that. So the tuner clicked on the values of the hondata table and the value that showed on the table, was actually different when he clicked on it. Changed it, and BAM...VTEC engages fine.

He had boost creep so the tuner did a fuel cut off of 6200rpm. Boost would only boost 2psi until vtec, then it boosts 14psi. Have to modify the turbo manifold.....still made 300whp at 6000rpm and 240+trq...

good luck!
