fuel pressure problem w/ B20 in EK
i just got my swap running but there a a few bugs....
the engine bogs 90% of the time and i have to play with the pedal to get the right fuel ratio it seems
anyone know what this could be
maybe a damaged fuel filter from the previous owner letting it sit too long?
ideas????

are you sure it is a fuel pressure problem? Sounds kinda like a when a tps is not hooked up properly. Any codes?

Re: fuel pressure problem w/ B20 in EK (SIXTY)
yesterday on my way to work it was crusing decently when i gave it very very light throttle. until out of no where the check engine light turned on then the motor started bogging everywhere no matter what gear, rpm, or amount of throttle. it did this for about 5-8 sec. then when i finally found power it wouldn't be that smooth.
when i start it i have to keep it up until it finds and idle, which usually takes anywhere between 5-25 sec. and when it will idle it will be anywhere between 700-3500 rpm.
here are the codes it's throwin:
1/10 (not sure which one): Primary Oxygen sensor (1); IAT sensor
14: IAC (idle air control)
43: Fuel supply system
so here's my setup:
1996 ej6 (EK 4dr)
97 B20
98 GRS tranny
my harness
ry-wire harness converter
OBD I P06
92 LS intake mani
not sure which throttle body but it has no MAP sensor so i plugged my old one into it and it's chillin under my intake manifold
also the guy who had it before me had it in his eg so he changed the distributor. so i rewired it to fit my harness. i also put my D16 injectors in.
hope this more detailed discription helps

Re: (doodooheadfart)
im already running an OBD I ecu btw
here's what happened today:
i ran some fuel system cleaner and ran 50 miles, it's running alot smoother and doesn't bog as much but still bogs.
i haven't checked the codes yet but the check engine light is on only 15% of the time
it still ilde's between 700-3300 rpm
im going to check the codes later on tonight and buy a new fuel filter

well i replaced the fuel filter, and when i took it out it looked like dirt and poop water came out of it.
the new fuel filter also got rid of code 43.
but i after i got done installing it the motor wouldn't idle and and threw codes 10 and 14 only.i checked everything possible and ended up spraying the sensors with carb cleaner and lettin them dry.
!!! NO MORE CEL !!!
but it still bogs at certain positions of throttle and idles anwhere between 600-4000!!!!!!!!!!
im thinking of cleaning my IAC next...

new problems....
it will run fine if im really light on the throttle, for about 2-5 min then the check engine light will turn on and it won't be able to find power anywhere and just bogs
but i turn the car off, then back on, everything will be fine and then i can drive my car for another 2-5 min.
oh yeah, and it's throwing code 43

alright i went ahead and cledaned out the IAC and now it's running alot better BUT it can't hold an idle anymore. BUT today i did get todo a full launch at 4k and ran it to the end of 2nd gear, no bogging or anything, for the FIRST TIME! made me so happy . but i haven't gotten to drive it much because it won't idle and i don't have much patience to keep it from dying.
so does anyone have any idea's about the idle problem? thanks

well i covered up the vaccum for the fast idle valve and now it's running alot better. i just sandwiched a piece of duck tape between it and the intake manifold. oh and it hasn't thrown a CEL since.
it still won't hold an idle though. i have to warm it up for about 15-30 sec, then it drives really well for the most part. it likes to bogs sometimes, usually between 15%-50% throttle. the more i drive it the better and longer it can hold an idle, and when it does hold, it will be anywhere between 600-1900 rpm
fuel pump?
