Friend doing a mini-me swap, a few questions
My friend has a 1999 Civic EX sedan, 5-speed that he just blew the engine in. He also has a 1990 Honda Civic DX 5-speed.
He is looking at taking the D15B bottom end from the DX and putting it under the D16Y8 head and installing it into the 99 EX. I plan on helping him with this, and we both have a few questions about it.
I know he needs the head studs, distributor, timing belt, head gasket, and manifolds off the Y8. Our questions are this:
What compression will this Mini me make? Someone told me 13:1, but I think thats a little high.
Will he have any ECU issues with the 15B bottom end? I also know that there is an oil plug that needs to be pulled from the block to allot for the VTEC, am I missing anything else?
Which clutch does he use? He wants to use the EX tranny with the D15B bottom. The clutch from the EX is bad, so he wants to use the D15B clutch. Is that right?
Which radiator does he need? He accidentaly cracked the EX rad when pulling it out, so he wants to use the D15 rad.
Is there anything special he needs to do to get it timed right? I know to raise the bottom to TDC, but how about the heads? How does he get those lined up right?
I realize these seem like goofy questions, but I'm fairly new to the Honda crowd. I did quite a search, but everything I saw was dealing with installing this combo into an earlier Civic (EF, EG), pre-OBD2, not an EK. They were swapping the Y8 head onto the D15B in the original D15B car. What he's doing is swapping bottom ends, essencially, instead of top ends.
He has both cars, all complete. We just need to know which parts off of which engine we need.
Thanks for any help you guys can give us.

Anyone? I'm heading out Saturday morning, and I'll be cut off from internet access until we do the swap. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
