I agree!

Since this set up worked so well, We will be taking it a step further......My goal is 350+whp all NA. How about a 2.6L beast? Still single NON-vtack?
No details yet guys..........Area 51 stuff...lol

That's definitely a possibility cause bisi never told people how extensive the head work was don on his race car. A lot of cutting a welding in more material. Thumbs up for taking on the project.

ok I have a custom 99 accord with an f23 motor would the k20 pistons work without the regrind cam? car has OVER 300,000 miles on it but can't afford the full g23 swap right now but a basic rebuild with the k20 pistons sounds like fun. oh and would I have to change my head or would the stock F23 head work?

Take off the Vtech solenoid and check the lil screen in there if it plugs up your vtech won't kick like it should. mine got really bad off someone who worked on the car before I got it used to much silicone and it broke off and plugged the screen on me. I had fun cleaning all of that out lol

good advice. im not sure how the pistons would run without the regrind. the compression is kinda high but if you swap your f23 head with an h22 head, it will lower your compression just enough and you get a dohc vtec head. i am merely brainstorming. not sure if what i said is possible. lol

talked to another guy on here in another thread and a company actually will make you custom f22 pistons to your spec for $500. he goes by the name of ghostaccord.

sounds like everyone is leaning to the g23 setup so I guess just pinch my penneys get a h22 motor riper her apart and build this thing lol would an after market header and down pipe bold to my cat cuz I just got done putting a full racing exhaust on it and I know the manifolds are different. if nothing eles a header should bolt to the down pipe right using 4-2-1 matrix header

I've been doing more research 5 hours tonight lol from what I understand the k20s pistons will wear quicker than a stock piston because of the offset so I'll most likely contact ghostaccord latter this summer when I start getting all my ducks lined up thanks

no one has ran them long enuff to solidly prove that theory

and even if that was true that means what ?? it wont last as long as a stock honda motor 200k miles... it will now only last 50-60k ? like that really matters or that any of us rock a motor for that long......

they only need to be flipped 180° to correct the offset issue. this is how i'll be running mine.

has anyone here dealt with speed innovations ecu's? They offer a chipped ecu for a H22 H22A H23 F20B DOHC VTEC 5 speed that would work in a 99 accord $300 on ebay. it should also work in the g23 rather nicley :D

Honestly there are quite a few reputable ECU retailers online that I would go with before an Ebay based retailer.

You can usually pick one up with a custom basemap for $250 shipped.

Xenocron.com
Phearable.net
HRtuning.com (Neptune specific)

Hey Ivan,

I have a couple of questions for you. I've read this thread a few times, and did not see what I was looking for. I might be mistaken though.

1. Did you do any balancing to the rotating assembly? Or just put it together as is?

2. What did you use to tune it...i.e., Hondata, Crome, etc.?

3. Did you end up keeping your balancer shafts?

Thanks for your help and for sharing the build! I appreciate the knowledge.

That's impressive whp. I'll ask the same question to you...did you balance the rotating assembly. I would think that would be pertinent for revving it to 9k.
