the original engine is a puny first-gen 4age, most people swap it out and get an 88 + 4age rwd bottom end and stick a 20 valve head on it...
but a f20c, i give the man credit, i would have simply gone for a cheap ka24de swap ( 300-600 bucks for the motor)
but damn.

I've seen that too. That must have taken some time.

Re: F20C swap in 86 TOYOTA COROLLA GTS (7thGear)
ahh a punny blue top 4age haha..there quite strong motors and produce great for drifting even in basicly stock form...bolt on's that is..every one has there opinion though.
for where that car came the sr20det would be a way better canidate, the only issue here is the motor/tranny is so long the damn shifter sits way behind where it normally would. and from my $.02 it would be much easier to just swap the 20v into the car instead of sourcing the head and then slapping the red top bottom to gether... ahh well dreams haha
13b would kick ***...and that would be pretty pain free i think...to bad ive only seen one on the internet...

Re: F20C swap in 86 TOYOTA COROLLA GTS (90accord1)
no see the first gen 4age's had only 3 "rib's" for increased strength, second gen and on 4age had 7 "ribs" for even greater structure strength, so if you ever wanted your 4age to pump more than 200 hp you need the second gen, which only came in japanese spec cars, or american FWD carollas, so you would have to remount the engine and ****.... lotsa work.

you know there is no way in hell you can take a 4 valve bottom and put a 5 valve head on it. I suggest you don't talk about things you don't know. Did you know that the 4age motor is used in the toyota ataltic series and there still used till this day. Seems that your a noob in many areas. oh the only way to do is a 20 v is to put the whole motor in there
