Experts: What's this green/white wire for?
I have a austin mini which has been converted to use a JDM B16A engine. I didn't actually do the conversion and so i'm looking for a bit of advice.
While trying to sort out a problem with the car idling i managed to find a loose cable. Its green and white and is coming out of the wiring loom that has the map/tps sensors ect - see the image. I can't see anywhere it should go. It would seem it goes down the back of the engine.
I'm assuming the idle problem (wont idle and misfires) is either the TPS or MAP sensor which this wire is not from. I've also checked the IAVC as one of the wires was broken (didn't solve the problem)
Any idea's ?

It goes into the wiring loom for the TPS and injectors ect.
I think its a sensor looking at the diagrams.
Any idea where you'd expect the TA sensor (air temp?) or TW sensor

Check your tps plug. If you look with the clip side up. It should be the one on the far right if you have the plug pointing away from you.

First, do you have the obd1 or obd2 wiring harness/ Ecu? How to figure out what that wire is for: 1. Disconnect battery. 2. Disconnect all plugs from Ecu. 3. Have a buddy touch the wire with an ohm meter. 4. You touch a solid ground first. If its still reading 1 for infinite resistance, go to the Ecu and now touch it until you get a reading other than 1. Cross reference the pin number to an Ecu pinout. As far as I know theres only one thing that has only one wire used and that's your temperature sending unit for your gauge cluster. I've also peeled open stock obd0 wiring harnesses and in the distributor there's a few extra wires that are clipped and taped about 6 inches deep. Are you getting any check engine light codes? That should also help identify it.

to me it looks like the wire that goes on the oil pressure switch. on the back of the block by the oil filter

basically, yes. its not ground, but it also does not have much voltage in it, just a starting point for referencing change ie. from 5.0V to 5.5V rather than checking from 0 to 0.5V which can be less accurate because you are relying on a good ground, etc...
