Everyone that HAS done AN engine SWAP help me out!!!
i want to do an engine swap for my 2000 civic thinking bout a b16a
I have a few questions please help me out
1st. is it worth it? Can you feel the difference?
2nd. How much time is involved in installing it?
3rd. if i do get it professionally installed how much will that cost?
4th. What extra mods will i need to make it run correctly? Maybe like a hondata or something?
5th.if i ran a turbo also would it be alot of maintnence and would it be harmful to my engine
Thanks PLEASE give me as much info as possible or websites that will help me out
Thanks in advance

not to be an *** or anything, but it seems as if searching would be a much better route for you to take... enter "swap x motor into y car"... just enter your car inplace of "y" and "b16, b18, or any other motor" into "x"... read read read, and i guarentee that you'll come up with info....

1st. Yes its worth it and you can really feel the differnce.
2nd. You can have one up and running in a day if you have done one before. For a noob such as yourself I give it less that a week.
3rd. If you paid some pros to do it,it would cost about $500-$800.
4th. You wont need any extra mods to get it to run.You might have to extend your exhaust a little and get an intake.
5th.I dont think you should be getting into turbo stuff right now,no offense but your a noob so lets take it one step at a time

1. yes it is worth it, BUT the difference in FEEL of a b16a and a d16 is not that impressive. but it does have MUCH more potential. if you want it to FEEL stronger as soon as you drive it, go with the B18C1.
2. i did my first swap which was a b18c1 into a 93 si in 12 hours. JUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON EVERYTHING!!!!!! its really not that hard if you have tools and a brain.
3. going rate is around 500+ for professional instalation (not worth it IMO)
4. you shouldnt need much besides some motor mounts from a 99-00 civic SI
5. you should read up on turbos before even considering to turbo your new engine.
if you get the chance, check out hybridynamics.com they are one of the best shops on the east coast and are really nice guys. look at their opinions on swaps for your car. they give their input on what is the best bang for your buck with each car.
