Re: Engine swap questions about the law in va/dc/md area (hybridreams)
Mines still registered as stock, have all the required emissions gear and all. Passed emmisions test. Why should they be concerned about whats under the hood.

The only rule on motor swaps in VA that I know of is that the motor has to be the same year as the car or newer. Oh, and it has to pass emissions.

Re: Engine swap questions about the law in va/dc/md area
i personally went to DMV. they told me that as long as the vin is still the same on the chasis, that i don't need to register the engine.
as for emmisions. i'm going at it safe by going to someone i know. the tests scans in the code on the hood of the car, and the test done is for the original engine. so naturally i would think that 1.6 has different emmision levels as to a 1.8. but i still have yet to find out for sure.
