EK w/o P/S.....how tough is it?
So I did some searches, but still wasn't satisfied so I'm posting this question. How tough is it to turn an EK w/o power steering? Since they're such small cars, is there a big difference between the ones with and without P/S?? Thanks.

I love it. Know of a lot of people with it, and they think its way better. If you drive at really high speeds all the time get rid of it. Makes the car feel ten times better, and you can actually feel the road. But you cant turn it with one hand very easily.

I like the one that came with PS even more than the ones that don't... Don't get me wrong but I must just be weird cuz i like it when it's harder to turn with the bonus of it being a little more responsive... The EKs that came without power steering had a different rack that makes them easier to turn but less efficient because of the rack and pinion gearing... The ones that came with PS had a rack that was more responsive and harder to turn if the compressor wasn't running.... The only downside to the PS rack with no compressor is over time it will slowly die.... Oil is supposed to be pumped through it and it just begins to wear.... But for the most part a non PS car even with a motor isn't that bad at all... I hate the A/C and PS compressors on the motor anyways... The engine bay gets to cluttered looking... Just my opinion.. Peace

Cool. My 96 Accord lost P/S one time and it was a bitch to turn.....would the EK be a lot easier? The reason I ask is because I am most likely gonna drop an H22 in my EK and I was concerned about the P/S and how hard it would be.....after reading the responses, I think I'm gonna stay with the H22.

ahh dont be part of those power steering *ussies. Its not bad at all. The hardest part is turning when stopped. Other then that, its nothing. Cake. Easy. I like it better, I feel like I have better control. thats just me and i;m weird. well

well my EK doesnt even have power steering...i have a 97DX...honestly i dont mind it. although i still have the stock motor in it so there isnt as much weight on the wheels. it was a big change from my GSR but i have to say that i like it a lot better. the only shitty part is trying to turn when youre not going fast aka parallel parking. you definitely need both hands on the wheel
as far as changing it from power to non power i think that you might just need to pull the pump and lines and then get a rack an pinion from an EK without power steering...could be wrong?

i havent had power steering since my swap
