EG hatch- b18c5 or forced b18b?
I have a '93 cx with a 96 b18b swap. The motor is completly stock except for a aem shortram intake. I took it to the track last week and ran this.
60' 2.457
330 6.530
1/8 9.898
mph 73.36
1000 12.786
1/4 15.337 @ 88.20
I had a really shitty launch and had tire hop through 2nd gear. Maybe with better tires and a better 60' launch i could pull a 15.1 or so.
Im not really satisfied with this time at all. So right now i have two options.
1- Put a Drag gen.III turbo kit on the current b18b running the stock 7lbs. Add a thermal 2.25'' exhaust. aeromotive fpr, and a missing link and maybe an J&S Ultra Safegaurd v.2 I dont have the money for hondata so thats the way i would have to run it.
2- Pull the b18b and drop a gsr motor in there. Add a thermal exhaust, Skunk2 manifold, jdm 4-1 header, car sound cat, skunk2 gears.
Personally i think the gsr would be the way to go. I think it would be more reliable then the turbo setup. The turbo would produce more power though. Let me know what you think the best way to go would be. My goal is to run a low 13 second quarter.

i'd go turbo... but if u do plan to swap out the engine.. let me know how much u want for ur complete b18b setup and list the specs; yr, miles, etc.. so i can put it in my other hatch... My 1st hatch currently has a turbocharged b18b and its really impressive as compared before the turbocharging.... let me know..

a modified GSR or lots of weight reduction for 13's . why not do a reliable turbo set up on the GSR. Ericks racing is running stock gsr swap on an EG hatch turbo with 10lbs , and its running in street tires 12's at pamdale . i believe is making 275whp

Hey:
I suggest practicing a little more before you do anything. Seat time is what you need, I think.
Seriously, it looks like your problem right now is too much power more than anything else. If you put a more powerful motor in (with shorter gears), you might pull a little harder on top, but you are definitely going to spin more out of the hole.
Have someone videotape you making a pass, that's the easiest way to see where you are making your mistakes.
Practice, sort out your suspension, then add more power.
Good Luck
Steve
