Default EG engine swap questions

I'm about to swap a B18C1 into a 93 Civic Cx hatch and I have a few questions. First off how do I know if the wiring harness has the required VTEC wires to run the B18C1. I've heard a few different answers but none from anyone who has done the swap. I heard that the EG hatchbacks that came from canada have the right wires already. If not Do I need the whole GSR harness? Any help is much appreciated!

What year B18C1 motor and ecu are you going to be putting in the car?

It's a 96 GSR, ECU also.

The first thing I would do is sell the 96 ecu and get a 94 or 95 P72 B18C1 GS-R ecu. Not only is the performance better, but they also plug into your car's harness without any cutting/splicing and they can be chipped easily. If you get the 94-95 ecu the wiring will be simple - you'll only need to add wiring for the Knock Sensor, O2 Sensor, Intake Air Bypass Sensor, and the VTEC stuff. If you stick with the 96 ecu, you'll have to get an OBDI to OBDII ecu wiring harness jumper or change your plugs to 96+ plugs and the wiring will be a lot harder.

Thanks for your help so far! That is good to know. I plan on getting the ECU then I just have to add the VTEC wires, how do I go about adding those wires in the meantime. Again thanks for your help

I would buy a Helms Electronic Troubleshooting manual for your car (93 Civic) and then one for the motor you're using (96 Integra). But if you plan to buy the 94-95 GS-R ecu, I would get that year Integra Helm's manual instead of the 96 since the wiring you'll do is mostly on the ecu side. I have a 92 Civic manual and a 95 Integra manual and used them like a bible which got me through the swap error free. You can find them at http://www.helminc.com
What I would recommend is either use your CX motor harness on the Integra engine and add the extra sensor wires. You'll still need the motor harness from the Integra for the sensor plugs that you'll be adding. Other than that there's not much else I could tell you in general terms without getting into ECU pinouts and things like that. Either way, just take your time and be proud that you did the job yourself.

basically, you need to check your civic's ecu plug harness. check pinouts A4,A20.A17,D3,D6,...if anything is missing, you need to hardwire it. here's a link for the pinouts..it might help a bit.. http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/info.html#B18EG6
