eg/eh w/h22 custom engine torque damper
What I'm looking to do is add an engine torque damper. They are all sold for a specific car with the stock engine. I'm looking to do something a little bit more custom as I have a different engine. I have an eg/eh chassis with a Prelude H22a swap. I've talked with NRG to get some direction, and they simply told me to get a universal kit and seek help for custom install...duh!
Has anyone installed a torque damper on a civic with a DOHC swap? I basically need to know what mount points people are using to make this as functional as possible.
BTW, this is the best DIY I've come across so far: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-prelude-4/custom-engine-torque-damper-etd-4th-gen-2400042/. I just want to see if anyone has done this in a civic. I'm thinking this is pretty good, just looking to see what everyone else has done.
Thanks!

I have hasport mounts (w/ U94A urethane) and my car shakes like hell. I'm hoping it will help. That and I don't want to experience any cracking issues with a 1-piece header.

I'm not even sure how effective these things actually are. If you've got solid mounts, your motor shouldn't be rocking enough to need something like this. Seems pointless IMO

I thought the whole point of an ETD is to prevent wear on the urethane inserts in mounts and other components that move when shifting and during hard launching. I probably need new urethane inserts after the past 7 years or so of having this swap in my car.

your car will vibrate more with a damper. The damper is not used to supress vibration its used to prevent the engine from exessive rocking. I think any car thati s performance based should have a engine damper. actually most performance cars(exotics) have multiple dampers and polyeurthane mounts. using a engine damper would be a waste on cars with solid mounts but not polyeurthane.dampers supplement the urthane mounts. i have a eg with a h22 and damper. heres a pic.

Thanks for the reply. That is exactly why I started this thread. I figured Spoon and J's Racing make them, so there is definitely some R&D gone in to their design, and therefore they are functional. Spoon does make wiper brades though Do you have any closer pictures of how it is mounted in there? I'm interested in what brackets/mounting points you used. It looks like it's almost at an angle.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Found it at the bottom of this page on their website for $450: http://explicitspeedperformance.net/ESPTBS.html
Do you have that installed? It looks pretty solid on their installed pictures:

Night and day difference with no Traction Bar System and with or without Front Torque Mount Kit... first hand experience in my DC with our ESP TBS with Front Torque Mount Kit for H/F in the EG/DC/EK chassis
Power gets put to the ground a lot more and feels more solid...
