EF SI noob questions

Default EF SI noob questions

Howdy there guys so i have a 91 Canadian Si in my driveway D16a6 enginge slowly dying high miles you know the rest transmission shifts like butter still no grinding or resistance any who Jdm b20b (non vtec) swaps dont seem to be extremely expensive how ever i cant find exactly what i want to know its been a mixed bag of info, some say plug and play nothing to worry about others say i need to at least do obd2 wire conversion and ecu conversion but trans should bolt right up and be good to go , im a complete noob and wouldn't be doing this myself a friend of mine has done a couple exact engine swaps for cars and knows general mechanic work so i wouldnt want to be throwing him off or not have the correct parts when he shows up this is to be my daily driver and a bit of a personal resto project with another friend of mine i just want it to have a bit more kick and not drain my pockets

Just did this exact swap. You are off to a bad start by not doing any of the *easy* research yourself. Put in "EF B Series Swap Honda Tech" into any search engine and you will find your answers. The world is at your fingertips. Good luck.

If budget is an issue, a B-swap is probably not a good idea. Pretty much everything under your hood will need to be replaced with compatible parts. Sticking within a D series as your first swap is probably a better idea. Something like a D16Z6 would be far easier to work with.
