Default The ECU challenge question of the day.

If you can decipher this, you can help me.

EKH22A4OBD2->OBD1P28ECU

Can I simply plug in (as in no special wiring) an obd2 p13 ecu from a stock '97-'01 prelude.

My goal is to match up the computer that was originally designed for the H22A4 in my car.

waht kind of shell do you have?

an obd2 p13 only exsist in a 96 lude, 97-01 are p5m/p5p i think. and the 97+ lude ecus have immobilizers so have fun getting aroudn that.

here is a better description of the car:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=961850

i bought this car and i tried passing the emissions test here in ohio and it failed and I'm wondering if I can run the ecu that would have come from the factory so it doesn't run rich.

Immobilizers? That doesn't sound good, does that mean I have to use OBD1? I'm in over my head right now and not sure of what to do. The emissions test thinks I have a 45MPG CX model and I have an H22 so I'm sure the numbers would be higher but I have an 89 Prelude and the numbers were way lower.

hmm.....first off, has the engine been kept up with all the maintaince items? spark plugs, etc.

and which part are you failing on the emissions test? NOx, CO, HC?

I just changed the oil and oil filter (before the Echeck). The spark plugs looked ok, they were not covered on oil or carbon. Platinum plugs by the way. Air filter looks decent, not new but decent, didn't check fuel filter. Could the PCV valve be a problem? I pulled it out and it had a little oil on it but I figured that was normal. I have no idea if the catalytic converter is in good shape. I would think it is fine as the plugs aren't covered in carbon (so I'm assuming it isn't running rich and trashing the cat). I guess the O2 sensor is fine as no there are no CEL's.

The car failed all three tests and here are the numbers:

HC 154.4 PPM (limit is 97)
CO 1.22% (limit is 0.54)
NO 2839 PPM (limit is 749)

I'm not sure what is normal for an H22 but these seem high. Any thoughts?
