Default Easier to use proper ECU than wiring?

I see a lot of people on these boards with wiring questions. Wiring seems to scare a lot of poeple and it scares me too. Wouldn't it be easier if your doing a swap into a civic or crx to just use the ECU that goes with the engine your installing?? Then it would just be plug and play...right or wrong?

I own a 99 hatch, which the B16A2 out of the 99-00 Si will fit into with no problems...even the ECU plugs right into my existing harness. However my hatch came with a motor that didn't have VTEC, nor a knock sensor. These wires need to be added or I need to get an Ex/Si harness. As you can see, I did use the correct ECU for the motor, but wiring still needed to be done....and this is but one example of many.

So its not as simple as matching up the motor and ECU, that part of it should be done anway. Its using the correct wiring harness that will make it more plug-n-play than anything and even then you may still have to do some wiring.
